Mid or High-Efficiency Furnaces?

Mid or High-Efficiency Furnaces?

I often get asked if a high-efficiency furnace should be placed in a rehab. I remind them and I will remind each of you, “For every dollar you put into a rehab, you should get two or more dollars out. Can you get the cost of the furnace out? That is the big question.
When you also consider that mid and high-efficiency furnaces are more expensive to purchase, and early indications are that their life expectancy may not be as long as conventional furnaces, you may actually spend more money on heating, rather than less.
Then consider the increased number of “no heat” calls because a minor problem has shut down the furnaces.
I believe this to be a worst-case scenario, and while there are instances where this may occur, the longer mid and high-efficiency furnaces are around, the more reliable they are likely to become. This is an emerging technology and things should improve.

Happy Rehabbing
