If you are wondering what the compressor does and how it works I wanted to give you just a quick reference point so that you have a better understanding of how the compressor works with the AC unit.
The compressor is the heart of the air conditioning system. It is the pump that drives the Freon through the system.
Unconventional split system air conditioning systems, the compressor is located in the condenser cabinet outdoors or in the attic. It is typically a large, black, hermetically sealed cylinder.
The motor and compressor operate in a Freon – field environment. Opening the condenser cabinet to get at the compressor is going beyond anything that you will ever need to know about the compressor.
Most condensers sit on the ground but some have wall mounted brackets for hanging two units off the building. This keeps them out of the dirt and eliminate settling problems. Some claim that this transfers noise and vibration into the house. Compressors have internal devices to protect against such things as electric motor overload or lock rotor, improper voltage supply, high temperature or pressure, low refrigerant pressure and short cycling.
This will help give you a better understanding as you are looking at your various properties and surroundings on the exterior of your homes.
Happy rehabbing!!
