I’m in California and have one property I want to sell and buy up several more with the proceeds. It doesn’t look like I can do a successful 1031 exchange because of the time limits and the fact that I am buying REO’s. The competition here is cut-throat.
Does anyone know of another way to avoid the capital gains tax? Maybe another investment vehicle just to hold the cash temporarily that there is no taxation on?
