First thing, go back and fill out your bio more fully. The first place we usually go when you ask a question is to your bio. If your bio is completely filled out it makes us feel that you are more serious about this and willing to do the work.
Things work differently in different areas. So again, the bio helps with advice we give.
Wholesaling is usually the best way to start. It is one of the simplest and you can do it with no money. Also, your credit doesn't enter into the equation because nothing ever goes into your name.
If you are reading Dean's books, they will tell you EXACTLY what to do. That is what makes his program so good. He tells you all the steps. Read them all the way through before you start. You need to know what you are doing. You don't have to be an expert and you won't be, but you need to understand some of the lingo and the concepts.
Depending on how much you know about REI, you may need to read them more than once. Every time you read them you learn something new.
Come on this site and read, and read, and read. There are many posts that are even a couple of years old that have some very good information.
You will get overwhelmed.
When that happens, you may need to take a day or two off and then start again. WARNING! You will become addicted! But it is a very good addiction!
Best wishes to you. Go read some stuff!

The above is a post that I did last week on this topic. Karen found out your name by looking at your bio, which is were we all go first when people post. Your bio is blank and to me that should be the first thing you do before anything else. Look at others to give you a guide as to what should be there. Go to your locale reic and find a mentor or look here. Ask questions, make contacts.....
Not having a goal is worse than not setting one..

It is an addiction, but a good one, and the posts will help you learn a lot.

Dean's books are the best tools you can get your hands on... I especially like "Profit From Real Estate Right Now"; but "30 Days to Cash in Real Estate" is like a 'how to' manual for wholesaling, and very easy to read.
Also, you may want to search for threads on this site (on the upper left corner of this page, there's a box where you can enter any topic you want to learn about, just enter a word, and hit enter)
Below is a link to a thread on wholesaling that you may like to read

Walk in, turn to the right, put your right hand on the wall (don't lose contact or spin in circles and make guesses at shortcuts here...trust me on that) KEEP MOVING FORWARD. Eventually you'll come out on top. Yes, you will hit ALL the dead-ends, but they will start to feel like confident left-turns and you will never be lost. KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
Get good at seeing vacant houses and For Sale By Owner signs. Get good at finding info from the Courthouse. Get good at cold-calling people you don't know while being confident.
Find problem properties, find the people that are stuck with those problem properties, find out how to solve those problems. Just find a vacant broken house and run back here with questions!... but don't spin in circles or give up because you're lost. Keep your right hand on the wall, keep turning left and there will be no dead-ends. Keep an eye out for me...I'm on the Out$

You are SO FUNNY! Way out in left field!
