Tina's Open Door Policy

Tina's Open Door Policy

To all the wonderful, excited people who have contacted me in Las Vegas, online here at DG and at the EDGE event this weekend:

First, let me say, I appreciate your eagerness, and I am so honored you have called on me. As you know I am not a seasoned investor; I have a long way to go to earn that title, but in whatever way I can help, I am happy to.

Each of you also know from our brief or lengthy conversations that I am transparent, I tend to get to Action pretty quickly and I put it on you to prompt me as we go, if a little tough love is needed, I'm not afraid to dole it out.

I'm writing this en mass so each of you can complete "the homework" we talked about for your specific needs and get back to me snip snap, so we can take ACTION on the next step! As we go, I'd like to implement another thing I learned at the EDGE-- working with interns! Here's what I mean:
- as I am happy to help, each of you knows I'll be striving to teach you to fish by guiding you as best I can through the DG systems and recipes
- I won't be handing you a fish, ever
- as we implement the "homework", I'd like to ask if I can take away something out of your lessons as well-- if can figure out what you need and strategize your "homework", I'll be devising it to benefit my systems as well. Let's say your homework was the "blank white sheet" I talked about with many of you as the first way to begin building your buyer's list-- I may have one of you make the sheet "pretty" in word and write the ABC instructions-- viola! I will have a document for my system.

In essence, I am asking each of you to be an intern for my Team while we learn together and discover your next step. On your next prompt to me please let me know if this ok.

Lots of DG love here and with great respect,
-Tina

Hi Tina

Haven't spoken or written till now . Actually locking down first deal tomorrow. Details are in my latest journal entry.
I've read numerous posts from yourself and others. The outreach to help others is amazing here.
Just wanting to learn as much as possible, and to play it forward.

I would love to meet you at your next REIC meeting!

My partner and I just finished our boots on the ground here in Las Vegas with Matt Larson where he mentioned you our weekend with him. I'm not having any luck finding an REIC here in Vegas. Please tell us what the dates are for the one you attend. When I saw you at the edge this past weekend we were able to put the face to a name. Looking forward to meeting you. Theresa

To many who have PM'd me wanting to know EVERYTHING

Let's see if we can get organized a bit to help the best we can. If you asked to know EVERYTHING, or feel you don't "get it", or you're not quite through one of Dean's books, you're really asking how to get started. Let's see if we can help you take that first step.

Reading the forums about particular ways to do RE is awesome on this site, but to take that first step, I would say that focusing on your commitment and Dean's Video Blogs is the way to go--

In addition to recipes for success in Real Estate, Dean gives us the basics we all need to gain strength, discover our reasons for doing this, as well as the power to move through whatever obstacles we think are in our way.

To start with, stick with the basics.

1. Whichever of Dean's books you have read, re-read Chapter 1 and DO THE ACTION STEPS when applicable
a. As you DO the action steps, IF you have questions, stop and ask the question here. If you "get it", re-read Chapter 2 and DO THE ACTION STEPS, repeat 1a, and so forth.

2. Commit to yourself. To find out how badly you want to do this, commit 60 minutes a day- if you say you don't have time, find it. If you watch the news, or other TV, stop. Get up 30 minutes earlier, read through your lunch, whatever it takes. Find the time, commit to it and log what you learned each day in a journal and stay accountable to yourself. No long TO DO lists are necessary to get started.

Use a blank notebook or staple 11 blank sheets of paper together. Label each side of each page with the day and date for 21 days from TODAY. Commit 3 weeks, no days off. And be true to yourself.

a. Write in your journal, "what I learned today: 1.___ 2.___ 3. ___" If you missed a day, that day in your journal write, "I learned I need to commit 1 hour a day to myself; tomorrow is a new day", repeat 2a, and so forth.

3. Any free time you find (over your 1 hour a day), go to Dean's Video Blogs and start at the first one and listen to him. DO Dean's ACTION steps if applicable. If it's a question you need to answer yourself, write down the question and your answer in your journal for that day. If it's a question we can help with, get on here and ask it by referring to that Blog #.

a. Add to what you learned that day from the Video Blog in your journal

Taking your first step by following this simple (I didn't say easy) 1,2,3 method should help you focus. Whatever your monster or scary thing is, the only way to eat it is one bite at a time.

Believe you can do this and take one bite of that monster every day. Make sure you celebrate how good each tasty morsel is. Smile at yourself in the mirror, and say "I did it!".

Start TODAY!

-Tina
