Habit Hacking: The Warm-Up

Habit Hacking: The Warm-Up

Use the three quick tips below to get your mind and spirit ready to hack your habits and live your best life ever!

1. Visualize it.
Whatever it is you most want to be doing, you must be able to see yourself doing it. For most of us, the work we do while procrastinating is probably the work we should be doing for the rest of our lives. Practice visualizing this concept with your eyes closed for a few seconds. Where are you working? What's the room like? What's the temperature like? How's the lighting? How do you feel? Are you drinking a cup of coffee or a glass of water? What time of the day is it? The more senses you involve the better. Keep imagining this for yourself in order to increase the likelihood of these visions becoming reality.

2. Believe in it.
You have to believe that you already have everything you need to be successful. Remember: You don't need money to try out an idea. There are plenty of free and low-cost ways to get started with all kinds of projects—from using social media to smartphone apps to making use of fundraising sites. And when it comes to having the courage and can-do spirit to get going, well, that's something you already have in spades.

3. Talk it up.
Talk about what you do everywhere you go. You won't believe the people you stumble upon who are willing to help. Whatever pain you're healing or problem you're solving or project you’re launching, share your knowledge and experiences with everyone who can benefit from them. When you help as many people as you can, those people will connect you to all kinds of resources—everything you need to get started. Just let it happen, and smile as often as possible.

You can be whatever you want, you can have whatever you want. If you do what it takes to get there. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Be willing to go through obstacles and most important never quit.
The key to success is consistence smart work. If you don’t feel like it…do it any ways. If you aren’t sure what to do…Ask. If you have FEAR validate it and make a plan to overcome it. Press Forward the rewards are waiting for you.

Thats right Kim

You have to believe and keep visualizing exactly what you want. And when you talk it up you let others know what you do or want and it will reap many benefits!

re: Habit Hacking: The Warm-Up

Thanks for your comment, it brings up another thought.
And that is to have someone that you can share your goals with. Outlining your plan of action and then share that with a fellow investor or DGer. Then report what you are doing on a weekly bases.
By letting someone know what your goals are, you are taking your commitment to another level. You now are taking the goal to the level of making a promise to yourself that you are going to get this done. You are also giving back and paying it forward which means that you are going to be helping someone else reach their goals and aspirations. Which in turn will help you to meet your own goals and aspirations.
If anyone would like to take on the challenge to find a accountability partner, maybe one from this site. Test it out and then let us know how it is working for you.
Here is an outline of how this works:
1) Find someone on the site that you connect with (personality wise).
2) Share your goals and dates (they will do the same
3) Set a time to talk once a week.
No whining only encouragement. No need to be close, in fact it could be better that you are not. By no whining that is yes I did what I said I would do or no I didn’t complete my action plan. If you are not hitting your goal, ask yourself if the goal is realistic. If not realign the goal to what you really can do. Pat each other on the back. Good Luck!!

Yes, the buddy system works!

great thread Kim!

I've been talking about my rei plans with my friend Karen for years now (!!); since we met here on DG in 2010:)
Even though we both are doing different rei strategies, it has helped me so much to have someone who understands the lingo and the processes, and everytime we talk (sometimes for hours!), we ask each other what we've accomplished since last time, what are our plans for next week to reach our goal... it's awesome! we keep each other accountable and motivated!
She was actually visiting me when my very first buy and hold offer got accepted! It was so exciting, but even moreso because she was by my side to celebrate! Smiling
