OfflineGood Morning Everyone! I have a question about a term I came across this weekend as I was looking at property. Yes, I could have asked the agent who was at this particular open house, but she was very busy talking to people and I really couldn't grab her attention. Didn't worry about it at the time, but looking in the paper today, I came across this term again! Now, I live in Southern California and I have never heard of this before. Does anyone have any insight on: What is Mello Roos? Thank you so much!

Mello-Roos is a law passed in CA back in '82. Senator Mello and Assemblyman Roos co-authored it. If you type it in on wikipedia, it will give you a brief overview. I don't know what the context was that you heard and saw it in, but you might want to google it if you'd like a more complete explanation. Good luck!

Oh Wow! Thank you Vincent. I sure will. I saw an ad about a new development and in the ad it stated "No Mello Roos" I was totally thrown and not sure what that meant, so I am on a mission to find it out and understand it so when I come across it again, I will understand. I thought it was another fee of somekind, like an association fee for a neighborhood, or maybe a tax, or maybe part of an HOA. But I will totally take your suggestion and go check it out. I think I am sorry I asked! LOL! Sounds like it was quite a fight, still is to this day, but at least I understand it now. Thanks again for your help. I'm going to go back and read some more. It's actually a facinating subject!

That's great! Living in NJ, I had no clue what it was about. When I saw your post, I thought maybe it was some kind of acronym!
Glad we don't have to deal with something like that here in NJ! Maybe there is, but I don't want to know about it right now!
