Throughout the year, we as coaches have an opportunity to travel around the country to teach in different cities. I was just in Southern California over this past weekend, and had a great event down in Irvine. We had a great group, and everyone there was very high energy, and open to new ideas.
It is always fun to go through these events, and during the week, we make phone calls and make contacts with professionals in the field.
It never ceases to amaze me, how shocked the class participants are when they realize how easy it is to take action. Just making a few calls a day can create impressive results.
For example, when calling real estate agents, you don't need to be an expert, or feel like you need to be proficient in all real estate related topics in order to talk to agents! Remember, they expect that you're coming to them for help, and that you probably know a LOT less about real estate than they do. Usually when we make the calls at the events, we come across 3 or 4 agents who are down and negative, and then we run into a couple of agents who are excited about possibilities, have deals lined up, or start us down the road to investing right away. Even if it took 20 calls, it would still be worth the time!! The key is to just pick up the phone and start talking casually to many of the people in the profession.
One of the couples in the class also told us about some of their results from their actions. Keep in mind, the couple was, according to them, very shy. So going out and making contacts was out of their comfort zone. But instead of just thinking about the ideas they have learned, they went out and just did a couple of things. They put an ad in Craigs list, and went to an auction. At the auction, they met an older gentleman, and this person told the couple that he would like to possibly do some deals. It just turns out that this person at the auction has access to a million dollars! What an incredible result from some minimal activities. Now they have an incredible opportunity to find good deals, knowing money isn't an object. What an incredible situation!
This is the potential that all of you have. Just make a few calls, go to auctions or investment clubs, and get involved. Good things will happen, but you have to put yourself out there to be in a position to take advantage of all of the opportunities out there.
Thanks for a great post. When will DG teachers be here in San Diego, CA? When and where do fellow DG family members meet in San Diego? How do I learn when and where the auctions are held? Is there a fee to attend the auction? I would appreciate it if you would explain how to access County tax records online to get a cash buyer's (owner) name and address? If not, how can I physically access this information? From where exactly?
Thank you.

Hey Richard,
Dean coaches are down there a few times a year, but I don't have the schedule for the next time. You can do google searches for different types of real estate auctions, but the official government auctions you can learn about at the courthouse. Remember to make calls to the court before traveling to them, since there are many different courts with different functions. For example, one day I was at the county courthouse, and asked about probates. They weren't available there, they were at the state courthouse. So a few phone calls will go a long way. Also, remember to be going to your local investment clubs, because the investors there will be telling you about auctions they are aware of as well.
In terms of accessing the county records, you can go to www.netronline to access public records around the country. Another spot is NACO.org, which is the national association of counties.
Good luck tracking some things down!
