Finally Breaking Ground

Finally Breaking Ground

How does a poor paycheck to paycheck husband grow a corporation from scratch?

A 41 year old man with no savings or medical insurance, how will he take care of his wife whose body is full of aches and pains, due to, fibromyalgia, stomach ulcers, and arthritis in every joint?

How will this man change the course of his life?

Can real estate investing truly offer solutions?

Freedom?

I guess it is time to write a journal to see how this journey will pan out.

First Post

In June of 2012, I started to get fed up with the lack of control over my finances. I knew I wanted to take advantage of the real estate market and buy and hold rental property for passive income.

Problem, the only one with capital was my wife, I ate up all my savings to get us over a hump of credit card debts. Being that I had control of the finances, and managed our familie's budget and bills, I decided that I would find cheap houses needing rehab in questionable neigborhoods and place section eight families needing a place to stay. I was willing to take on the headaches of a landlord.

So, I started going through lists of properties under $25,000 both single and multi-family homes. Soon, I compiled a long list of 30 to 40 properties that I felt we could squeeze a down payment for to get the ball rolling.

My wife was scared and showered my ambition with tons of reasons why we shouldn't invest the last of our measly savings to control a few cheap properties. I was motivated to find a multifamily home for us to move into so that I could finish remodeling a single family rehab we are presently living in. Our home is so broken down and disheveled, that if the city knew how we were living, they would kick us out and label our home condemed.

We played alot with our money during our 15 years of marriage and traveled the world. Now, we hardly have two nickles, but alot of rich experiences and memories.

Realty? Memories do not put food on the table, or pay your bills on time.

One day I saw an infomercial, with an excited Italian man who confirmed my instincts that now is the time to get involved with real estate. Dates flashed over the screen to attend a class that would come with free information about real estate investing and a free cheap digital camera. Having been esposed to, so called, gurus in the past, and cheated by a few. I could sense something different about this man's delivery.

He sounded honest, and seemed to come from a back ground of struggle. His words appealed to the working man and championed the possibility that we could really climb out of this poor economy. It did not sound like a get rich myth. It sounded real. What would it hurt to simply visit? Dean Graziosi hooked me in.

second post

My wife had to work that day and we only had one car. So, I took a Twenty minute walk downtown along a short cut that I knew of. My class was scheduled at a Regency Hyatt in downtown Rochester, NY. I attended that one day class. It started like all those other seminars held by other so called experts. In fact, I had paced that same lobby before to attend other hyped up opportunities that I could never afford. Yet, I told myself,

"This Dean guy did promise free information that we could apply towards our real estate investing today, I know I want to invest, maybe this class can give me some pointers that can help me get off on the right foot." So, I filled out my registration slip and my name tag and sat down with a skeptical heart(with a little hope crying inside of me).

"Please, be affordable, if you are a good deal please be affordable!" I started to rationalize and thought about where i would find the money to do this and how much would I be willing to spend. (All of these thoughts before the class even started).

My dilemma was heightened by the fact that my wife and I were living off of our savings and credit cards. To top it all off, we had a prearranged vacation all paid for a year prior(A year prior we had good credit and money to spare). The trip would involve a stay in Chicago for a few nights, then take a flight to Las Vegas for a four day stay at the MGM. Obviously, we would need extra money for food and incidentals. What if my wife wanted to get a souvenir or goto a nice restaurant? This vacation was two weeks away.

Thinking about the bills that still needed to be paid, we had only $250.00 in our checking account and $1,500.00 left on a credit card. This money had to last us thru two weeks. The paychecks came biweekly. When I thought about our finaces too deeply, a doubter inside of me screamed, "What the @$#& are you doing! Get up, walk out, and don't come back to another one of these things until you have money to spare!" My conscience was at war with my hunger to find an answer to freedom that I knew passive income could provide. I questioned wether I was acting responsibly. I forced myself to stay seated as close to the front as I could get. The rebel in me did not want to be distracted.

Keep moving forward a little each day

I havn't done a deal yet, and havn't sent out my marketing letters yet either. I will be sending those out Monday or Tuesday, but I have been hanging around this site for a few months now. What I have taken from so many posts and videos from Dean and other successful students is to just move forward a little each day. The tiny steps you take each day eventually turn into miles and before you know it you are at your destination. Walking to the hotel that day you didn't think of the thousands of steps you needed to get there, you just started walking forward it's the same. Just start taking steps and you will get there. Each of us have their own hurdles to overcome and each of us have the ability to do it. Keep your head up and keep going. I have confidence that if we do our part the system will work, when you doubt, just look to the forums and you will find all the proof you will need.

Good Luck

Good Deal Keekrealty,

It's good to have something to motivate you to go after your goals. The other thing is to use that to also keep you motivated.

Much luck and God blessings.

What happened? Your writting sounds like a good novel, like a cliffhanger - yet good! Did you buy anything from the seminar, go on your vacation or?

Emanuel

I agree, I like your writing style! Also can you fill out your bio so others can network with and get to know you.

As for your wife's fibromyalgia; I know first hand what that is like. I would also like to offer you hope that mine is today manageable. I know I used to go to the hospital support groups and had such daily pain to where I was on so much pain medication and pulling my hair out, and people would say it gets better. I couldn't believe that then, but now I have been off pain meds for more than a decade and have very minimal pain from fibromyalgia. Also note that good sleep is crucial for this condition.

Wishing you both all the best!
