Hi Bob,
The first thing you can do if you are looking for a section 8 renter is to go to the Board of Social Services and inform them you are looking for tenants. You are a landlord. They will have a list of renters waiting patientley. There is a set amount that they allow for the particular unit you are renting. So make sure the numbers work for you. Find this out before you expose your rental price. Because it could be more than you are requesting. This saves you time from advertising. At least you have access to their track record on hand. Some of the section 8 programs offer a grant for first time home buyers. So you might consider leaning towards a lease option. Continued success..............Lubertha

Sec 8 to me is a great way to go in this economy. I plan on going that route with a multi. I have a friend from an RE club whose co now handles sec 8 housing. If you get a house let me know and i will see if they are in your area also. If so i will have him e-mail you when your ready for tenants.
good luck
Richie.
I thought I need to go to the housing authority. Thank you for telling me that they should make an offer for the amount will pay me before i say something, but will they accept a lease option?
To say they will or won't depends on the renter's qualification for a mortgage. They have guide lines I'm sure set up for their grants approved for a purchase. Each are evaluated case by case basis. I would take the time to speak with a case worker to what all is involved. Each county or state have different guidelines relating to section 8. Continued success...........Lubertha

I have a 4 plex that I have almost completed rehabbing. I am curious about the section 8 program. I am going to sell it and want to have everything set up for the potential buyer. I live on the coast of Mississippi, and I am not sure who to contact for the rental rates for these 2bed/1bath 900 sq ft units. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
make sure your potential buyers want to deal with Section 8 tenants. You'll need to contact your local housing authority office to get all the details of the section 8 program for your area.
