A baby investor

A baby investor

Hello everyone. About a week ago I purchased Dean's book "Your Town Your Real Estate Profits". I've been a big chicken for a long time as far as trying to really learn about real estate. I'm in debt, my credit is bad and I'm tired of being broke for many reasons besides hating to live check to check. I'm sure none of you want to listen to my whole life history especially if it sounds like I'm having a pity party. I kept running across Dean's infomercials and said to myself, enough is enough and I finally broke down and bought his book. I have the slightest idea what I am doing but God always has the last say so and the prize goes to the one who finishes. I'm scared and overwhelmed with all of the information Dean has provided in his book and online but it is a blessing that someone would take their time, money and energy to help "a baby investor" like me try to achieve financial stability.

Update

I'm sure most of you already know that today is the anniversary of the 9/11 bombing. I usually don't like to dwell on many negative things but 9/11 was a historical event that triggers a lot of emotions. Sadness, fear, hatred and it causes trust issues. I'm not necessarily comparing real estate to the 9/11 disaster but you can develop the same emotions when trying to venture into the world of real estate. I'm trying to stay positive. I get bored very easily so hopefully by the end of this upcoming week I will have accomplished something from Dean's book no matter how small it is because I know it will be a step closer in helping someone and a step closer to making some money.

Another day another (no) dollar

Greetings everyone. I'm still knit picking at Dean's book and started trying to find out who I'm going to use for the automated service, business cards, etc. I've been watching real estate programs to try and understand the life of real estate in other aspects and it's getting more and more interesting. Too bad I don't have any money. lol. There is so much to do and so little time to do it.

Tyra, Welcome to the family!

Tyra,

Welcome to the family! I was watching the Lord of the Rings on TNT last night, and I was struck by Sam's monologue in The Two Towers. "The difference with the people in the tales is that they had lots of chances to turn back, but they kept going..." That's what we all here need to do. Sad to say, but there will be people that you see on this forum who will turn back, some because real estate isn't for them, some because the road got too hard. I don't stand in judgment of any of these people. There are many nights I've lost sleep wondering if I'll make it in this business. Keep going...

Vincent

private lenders

Do anyone have any paperwork on how to talk to a private lender? Thank You!

Interesting analogy

That was an insane analogy. I'm going to have to go back and watch that movie. I told another person on this forum that I was too afraid to quit. I've been wanting to get into real estate for the longest time. I'm not getting any younger and for some odd reason I fill like I'm running out of time. I know that's just me being anxious.

Phil. 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Sorry...

I'm sorry that I can't help you there. I just got started myself and I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction.

Update...

Well, today I did some more reading and found a chapter that gave me information in something that I'm interested in...distressed properties. I'm moving kind of slow but I hope within the next two weeks I've at least finished reading Dean's book and learning the definitions of terms that I have the slightest idea how to apply.

I assume "insane" is good?

Glossary terms for Real Estate

Has anyone seen the long list of glossary terms for Real Estate? Oh my goodness. My head is spinning just from words, but I'm going to try and study them so I know what I'm reading about in Dean's books, the newspaper, the member journal or wherever else.

It's on the left side under

It's on the left side under "Main Sections", Tyra. Glad to hear it!

Thanks

Thanks for helping me out...

Laziness is "Not" the key...

I won't say I'm necessarily lazy. I'll just say I'm scared and frustrated. I plan on actually talking to a realtor by the end of the week. I do have a job but it only pays minimum wage so I decided to pass out telephone books for extra money and guess what I saw...a whole lot of houses for sale, distressed and in an area that may be a good candidate for section 8 or low income families. All I have to do now is do the research on who owns the homes, if there any leans and whatever else and hopefully I can make a deal with no money down. I'm a big chicken but I do have some hope...and the saga continues...

Good start, Tyra!

Stay Motivated!

There are tons of deals to be made out there! Don't hesitate , get right on and investigate who owns those homes and get in touch with them..

Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm usually a self motivator but sometimes I need a little support.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

I think I can do that...

I will try my best to stay motivated. Today I spoke with a Real Estate Agent...it's a start. Thanks for the pep talk...Smiling

Not out of the diapers yet...

Well, I spoke with a real estate agent today that just happened to be someone I bought Avon from. She's a hustler...lol...UH OH, I'm getting nervous. I was passing out telephone books (Besides the job I have...this goes to show how broke I really am) and saw a lot of empty houses that didn't have a for sale sign or for rent sign. The area is not too bad but it definitely isn't all that great either. I thought to myself if I was desperate would I move there...yes, was my answer...so, this is probably the area that I might try and learn more about investing in distressed homes or focusing on getting information on section 8 rentals. Stay tuned...

Keep taking one step at a time...

...and you'll definitely get there! There is a lot of information to sort through and learn. Every step for me has opened a whole new chapter to study and something else to work on. Just keep on keepin' on. You're headed in the right direction.
