Who to accept on Linkedin

Who to accept on Linkedin

I am wondering especially from those that have a good network on linkedin how you go about accepting people that you don't know. I mean particularly people that want you to network so they can sell something to you. For instance a guy wanting to sell marketing materials. Another person wants me to sign up on his links to do business with him. I am thinking I will get bombarded with spam mail if not careful. I also understand part of this is networking, but where to draw the line. Thanks for your advice. I have no intentions to sign up on someones site that I don't know.

ok

I except all Invite and I dont get any spam.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of the better sites out there. Alot of it depends on how you are setting up your profile.

In the beginning you have to know someone to invite them to connect as LinkedIn is for professional purposes and not social networking.

That said, once you start joining groups you open the door to getting requests from other people in the groups to connect. At that point you may get a very small amount of spam.

The nice thing about LinkedIn is you can look at someones profile before you accept them. Just as you can accept someone, you can remove someone.

I have a large number of connections, groups memberships and recommendations. And honestly, the amount of spam I have seen is so small as to not even be measurable.

Yes there is a small amount, but the serious professionals on there don't send spam so I do not connect with anyone spamming me.

Only those who I could do business with.

Hope this helps.

Happy Investing!

Oh Thank you Brad. So the box on the side is to remove if problems? I guess I will reconsider then. I, however, will still not sign up with someone's website without knowing more. I have checked the profiles, as I of course don't know most people anyway, but wonder how they are connecting to me. Thanks again.

Email from other RE gurus

I get a lot of mostly useless stuff everyday it seems like from these gurus, most of which is expensive & I can't afford any of it. I haven't unsubscribed from any of 'em, because I keep thinking what free info they have to share, could be useful.

But, LinkedIn has been a good professional networking website. Carol S. started building her contacts from there. There is a way you can export those contacts to an excel file, too.
