Out here, years ago there was a TV commercial for motor oil (I think it was from PennzOil) meant to encourage the auto owner to change their car's oil/filter (hopefully with their products) regularly @ the 3k mile mark. The scene was a car cruising along, moments later the scene zoomed in showing the tach/speedometer right at expected normal levels as the driver was cruising along....the next thing you hear & see is the instruments begin to erratically jump around while a voice-over begins coughing as the car is spitting & sputtering; next the car comes to a screeching halt...the engine has seized! The last comment made by the announcer is, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later." So, the car owner can take the time out of a busy schedule and pay for the expense of the oil & filter change when it should be done, or pay when there's no other option and it'll be a lot more costly. (i.e. you pay one way or the other)

Dean's statement here in Chapter 10 reminded me of that old commercial. Sometimes the lesson you learn in the deal is well worth it's weight in Gold (cash) because you will use it over and over on many deals in the future (paying for itself many times over) vs. putting the cash in your pocket on this deal.
