Wow, where do I begin?
Real estate investing is something I've kicked around for quite some time...I'd say a good 10 years or so. Up until actually becoming motivated enough to give REI a shot, I've probably tried a little bit of everything under the sun.
I've served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years, worked as an aircraft mechanic afterwards, senior parts manual author, automotive retail parts sales, diesel engine test technician, sheet metal worker, and now I work at a private University in Chicago. I'm almost finished with a BA degree in Human Capital management as well. In the meantime I need to make money and have to put school on hold.
What's my motivation to pursue REI? I've reached a point where I'm tired of working for people (meaning I want to be my own boss). I'm tired of sacrificing time, nights, weekends for a job with no intrinsic value. I dread the 9 to 5 rat race and it's time to make changes.
I'm 35 with two boys and one girl that are beginning high school shortly. My parents are aging as well. I don't have any extremely successful people on either side of my family and I feel that I'm going to be the one to break the mold.
I'd love to meet other successful people as well. I have plenty of motivation, drive, and energy to make things happen. Not to mention my relentless dedication to the mission at hand. The only thing I lack is a sense of direction in this field.
