So I got a little off track, a little more scared and confused, for a while and have not been actively working toward the bigger and better life that I KNOW I want and deserve but I'm BACK! Set my homepage back to this site so that everytime I get on the computer its IN MY FACE! Dean's face reminds me of what originally inspired me and I need that kind of reminder when I am doing so horribly bad right now (no job, unemployment ran out months ago, 4 kids-one in college, trying to provide for them and keep my head above water- feel like I'm going under). Everybody is so motivated and inspired on this site, just reading what is posted helps me be able to hope for better days again.
I am still scared to death but I am pretty much out of options and I tend to fight the hardest when backed into a corner so I have started looking for investors and trying to build a buyer's list, also advertising myself as a bird dog. I really want to do assignment deals but worry that I'll screw something up. Carol Stinson has been a HUGE inspiration to me (thanks Carol!) and I visit her site regularly as well as the many that have been suggested on there and DG. I started a Twitter and Facebook account (never saw the point, not that interested in what everybody is having for lunch!). I am following those that post only REI & marketing related info and got 30 followers in less than 48 hours! Starting to see why Carol stresses social media connections!
All-in-all, though scared, I am feeling the possibility of breaking out of the high tide I'm currently in... can almost see a shore line! Been looking at the MANY empty and condemned houses in my area. Plan to write up a general letter to send to the owners of these houses advertising a way out of holding onto a property that is not making them any money. Any suggestions on the best way to word this? Already have over 100 houses (took maybe 3 hours of work) in areas that I know are primarily rental areas and have already researched the owners, many of whom have several properties in their name. I assume that these are people who are renting their properties out and are having trouble getting the houses up to code or have just so many properties that the few empty ones are going unnoticed. New thought as I'm writing this... I have been avoiding the properties that have building permits because I figure those are bought already and being fixed up but... DUH... who buys condemned and broken down houses BUT investors! Note to self: go back and write down these addresses!
Thanks to everybody for reading my vent session. I know this is very long but I had to tell somebody what I was feeling right now! Anybody have any suggestions on what else I can do or ESPECIALLY if anybody needs a bird dog in NE- central (Indianapolis) Indiana, NW Ohio, or southern MI, let me know!
