I overheard an interesting discussion last night regarding assignment of contracts and marketing them for sale via websites such as Craigslist.
If I am NOT an agent or broker but I have a house under contract can I legally post it under "for sale by owner" or would I have to put it under "for sale by broker"?
I technically am NOT the owner of the property...
Any thoughts on this?

I can only give you my take on this, and what I do.
When marketing a property that I have under contract, my 1st thing is to create a postlet and get that out to everyone of my buyers that matches this properties specs. If after that I don't have a solid buyer, I will then try bandit signs and CL. I will not, however give anything about the property other than general specs of it. I want people to call me, so I will give enough info to make it enticing, but not overwhelm them with the details. When marketing a property on CL, I will always place the ad under the for sale by owner.
Hopefully that helps.
Very helpful. Thank you.
