Who moved my Cheese? principles reminder

Who moved my Cheese? principles reminder

Hello, just wanted to write the principles from the short-story book, "Who Moved my Cheese?".

If you haven't read this great-inspiring book, then you must! It's short and can be completed in 45mins. Buy it or simply Google the book with the word "PDF" to download for free. I made this post as a reminder for myself and everyone else who has the same mindset. =]

The handwriting on the wall:

1. Having cheese makes you happy!
2. The more important your cheese is to you, the more you want to hold on to it.
3. If you do not change, you can become extinct.
4. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WEREN'T AFRAID?
5. Smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old.
6. Movement in a new direction helps you find new cheese.
7. When you move beyond your fear, you feel free.
8. Imagining myself enjoying new cheese even before I find it, leads me to it.
9. The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you find new cheese.
10. It is safer to search in the maze than remain in a cheesless situation.
11. Old belief do not lead you to new cheese.
12. When you see that you can find and enjoy new cheese, you change course.
13. Noticing small changes early helps you adapt to the bigger changes that are to come.
14. Move with the cheese and enjoy it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Principles:

1. Change happens - they keep moving the cheese.
2. Anticipate change - smell the cheese often so you know when it's getting old.
3. Adapt to change quickly - the quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy new cheese!
4. Enjoy change - savor the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese!
5. Be ready to change quickly and enjoy it again...they keep moving the cheese!

Keep chasing your cheese everyone, Vuong Doan

it is a good reminder

thank you Vuong,

"If we don't change, we don't grow.
If we don't grow, we are not really living.
Growth demands a temporary surrender of security." -Gail Sheehy

this quote is taken from DG's book Totally Fulfilled, Ch 11 , where he writes about the importance of change; and states that we need to look at change as an opportunity for growth, not as a threat; and that we need to not only accept change, but embrace it in order to live a Totally Fulfilled life.

I like how this is

I like how this is illustrated in the TV series: "Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares"

It's dramatic, funny, and over-all inspirational.
(even though things don't always work out)

(if you don't buy into the show, just take a minute and google the restaurants and you'll find lots of verifying information)

Really shows the many facets of what Valerie sead above.

Some Key Quotations

I have remembered this quotation since I was in 3rd Grade, thanks to my wonderful teacher: "To know nothing of the past is to know little of the present and have no concept of the future." Another corollary quotation states: "Those who know nothing of the past are doomed to repeat it."
I have had the opportunity of learning and studying with people who paved the way for modern investing. Each of these individuals had a rather philosophical view of real estate investing, realizing that there will always be cycles, there will always be new legislation, and there will always be individual market conditions to deal with.
The successful investor takes them in stride, and doesn't try to swim against the tide. They learn to flow with the direction things are going, and also how to anticipate changes and fortify their investments and strategies in preparation for them. And when there are surprises, they look at it as a challenge to be bested, and focus on the solution rather than the problem.
By the way, this is also what is referred to as true maturity in life--we learn to be bigger than the problem that confronts us, and choose it to be an opportunity for growth.
I choose to view this program as not even being a program for real estate investing. It is a program about how to live a better life, that happens to operate very well in a real estate environment. I hope you will join Dean, and all those who have paved the way for your success in helping to make this industry a better place for everyone by your presence within it.
