Pros & Cons of getting an Agent/Broker Licence

Sorry for sending this post this late at night. I just can't sleep on this cold rainy night in Central Oklahoma.

I will liked to start by giving you a little background on why I need to know your insite concerning this issue. I want to hear from agents who are doing REI and are successful on this career/profession.

Last month, my landlord, who also is the only Realtor in our little town, is semi-retiring and offer me a chance to get my license and come to work with him. I've been thinking about this for a month now, among other things.

I get to see him tomorrow, because, is rent time. On top of that I am trying to purchase this property from him on a Lease Option. The property has three lots and an older double wide, which are common here in Windy Country Oklahoma. The property could be develop and make good money on it.

I told him that I will liked to get into Real Estate from the Investing side, He said, he also, but you have to have Money to invest. I almost, exploited because I've been reading Dean's books and I was all full of knowledge, but I was tackful. Because he's third generation realtor, I think; at least two that I know off.

Again, sorry for being so long, I just want to pick your brain and stimulate your creativity. Smiling. All your input will be great use and appreciated.

? need agent/broker license to assign property with contract?

I called the department of real estate CA, and he said that to assign a contract using no $ of my own, as written in Dean's book, I would need a RE license. Is there something I am not understanding in the book that will allow me to assign a contract using no $ of my own? Please Help, thanks, Randy


You dont have to have a license

Just make sure you have the "byer or/assign clause and use only around for the earnest money. Don't deal with people liked that. All you have to say that you wholesale properties.

Thanks for your reply. after calling the dept of RE and getting that info, I've stagnated for a month or more. I just want to make sure everything is legit before I really start pouring my time,$ and energy into Dean's procedures. Thanks Max for your positive reply.


Have you read Deans books

Remember, you must read the entired books to get everything out it. Many of us wants to browse the books and go and make deals. But I tell you if you don't allow yourself to grow and face reality head on, you are robbing yourself on what really Dean is teaching us more than just investing in real estate. There is nothing about Dean's strategies that is illegal. If you have issues with that, I believe you must re-read the books again and then take action. Dean is teaching us how to grow as a person before we can handle the wealth we can create for us and our families. He laid the foundation for us, but some of us are trying to re-invent the wheel.
