Office Tutorials

Office Tutorials

I found a site where they have tutorials on a number of office programs and web development.
I was looking to build my buyers list but I never knew how to create and maintain a database. This site came up during a search and two hours later I can proficiently move around in Open Office's Base program.

Tutorials are available for:

Microsoft Office:
Access 2003, Access 2007, Excel 2003, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2003, PowerPoint 2007, Publisher 2003, Publisher 2007, Word 2003 and Word 2007

Openoffice.org:
Base, Calc, Impress and Writer

web layout:
HTML & CSS

web programming:
MySQL Basics, PHP Basics and Perl Basics

Here's the Link:
http://inpics.net/

For me this was a lot easier than trying to learn from a book. I had Base open on the left side of my screen and the tutorial on the right side of the screen, following the directions & examples as I moved on.

I noticed that some of the icons/buttons in the particular program I used were a little different due to a more recent version of the program than what was being taught with in the tutorial. Use a little common sense and you should be able to find the newer icons easily.

Hey, and it's Free!

Thanks for the info Mark! I will definitely check it out as I am also not too good with computer programs.

Best of luck to you,
Allison

Very nice

Thank you Mark,

for sharing; this is very helpful to me; I know how to use database, but not how to set it up, maintain it, etc. and I do'nt want to use Excel for certain things, like my rei lists, etc.

Great link! hope many people will see it!

Wishing you success,

Valerie

presentation programs and more

Thanks Mark!
Have you (or anyone) come across any great presentation software or market analysis formulas/software? trying to simplify without too much expense in programs. From what I see, Investors respond well to detailed and COMPLETE presentations. Thanks again.

Thanks! I'm glad it will help.
Back in the day I'd spend weeks learning how to use programs like Photoshop, some programming and other (now useless) programs.
I find as I get older I want my information more condensed and precise. I don't need to know every little detail that a full fledged photo editing program has for example.
These tutorials are great in my opinion, just the right amount of everything.
Take Care!

I'm glad you found this information useful.

I was pretty much in the same situation that you are. Excel/Calc is great for organizing more simple stuff but for information like buyers lists you need a real database that can present the information you need, when you need it.

Thanks for the comments!

Can't wait to see the results of your experiment.

Personally I think Micro$oft was great in the earlier days but now they are falling behind the times with a lot of bloat-ware and charging your first-born for it.
While I feel a little uncomfortable leaving everything to Google, I'll be the first one to admit that they have quite a few great products with very reasonable costs (free in most cases).
Most people don't realize that with a simple search that they can usually find a well-featured, open-source version of their old retail software (such as Open Office instead of MS Office or GIMP instead of Photoshop).

Microsoft already created a monster, you should have no problems finding tamer, more suitable alternatives that fit you better.

May your experiment be wildly successful Dr. Bill!

You're quite welcome!

As far as presentation programs, I have little experience with them. I do know that Powerpoint and Publish are usually a matter of time put into it vs aesthetics, of which can be improved upon using templates.
Maybe somebody else can chime in as I have yet to do a deal but I would think that a page with the numbers broken down for the property and then another page or two for photos would be good enough for a potential investor to make an initial decision to pursue it further or skip out on it.
Pack up the two or three pages into a .pdf to bcc email and you should be fine?

Just my thoughts.

You're very welcome, I'm glad it's something you can use.

I agree 100% with you that this site is a wonderful blessing. Where would any of us be without Dean's big heart (and mind!) ?

Have a great day!
