You would probably have to convert it to a self-directed IRA before you can use it for REI and other types of investments.
One company referred to me is www.mountainwestira.com. I haven't used their services so I can't tell you my opinion of the quality of their offerings.
I also suggest you talk to an accountant (CPA) to cover all the bases. There's a lot of little nuances in a self-directed IRA that you don't run into with the other types.
Like Smurfy said, you can also search here for threads related to your question. I've seen a few discussions myself regarding self-directed IRAs.
