First Sherriff's Auction

First Sherriff's Auction

I went to my first county sherriff's foreclosure auction yesterday and spoke to two different real estate investors there. I was told by one investor that there are over 10,000 pre-foreclosures here in my county, and there is only 1 auction a week...they only auctioned 3 properties yesterday! At that rate, who knows how long these properties will be hanging around. I also met up with another investor who put me in touch with his real estate agent and said she runs a REI group with many connections. I left her a message today to let me know when their next meeting is so that I can go. I was told to have my agent send me an "Auto-email" on all new active, under contract, and sold properties so that I can evaluate what is going on in the areas that I want to get involved in.

I have to tell you, I was nervous going in to the auction, but now I'm glad I did. I met some buyers and got some good tips!

You are on the right path. I live in a farm county, and we get about 2-3 auctioned houses a couple times a month. But at our Sheriffs auction, it is always the same group of people, but I love going just to learn more and network.
A REI club will open all kinds of doors for people, but that is when we are willing to speak up and ask questions and introduce yourself.
Take business cards and ask for theirs. But I have to write on the card that I met them at REI or sometimes it is hard to remember who is who.
Good luck and hope we hear more soon.
Sandi
