OfflineAlthough I think this is a GREAT forum for us all to exchange ideas, share our success stories and provide encouragement to newbies like me, does anyone belong to an investment club? I have never been to one (aside from DG's on-line club here) so I don't really know what they do.
Are there any investors out there who are members of a REI Club? If so, what do you do at these clubs? My primary focus is to study and absorb as much as I can from DG, his staff and you all, but I am always looking to broaden my horizons. If an investment club is worth joining, can anyone recommend one in Cape May or Atlantic Counties? If not, would anyone be interested in starting one in a centralized location for Southern New Jersey?

Hi Walter,
You should definitely be going to REIC meetings. They bring in guest speakers each meeting to teach you things, and sometimes the speaker will also offer you their products (books, seminars, etc.) There are many seasoned investors at the meetings actively looking to work with you on birddogging, wholesaling and partnering. Be sure to take along plenty of business cards and talk to as many people as possible, find out what they are looking for, and get their cards. I just officially began a partnership today with a speaker from a meeting I went to 3 weeks ago. He told me I have "good instincts". I liked hearing that, since that equals good deals.
Many of the groups do charge a fee for individual meetings to cover their costs for renting a venue and providing refreshments. Or you can become a member and pay an annual fee. I'd go to a meeting or two before signing up with one for a year.
Sorry, I'm in SoCal so I don't know of any clubs in your area. But you can probably find some by going to good ol' Google.

Join For networking: The reason why every REI Joins a Club is because they want to network with fellow investors. They sell there wholesale deals to fellow investors who wants to Fix and Flip, Landlords, Rehabers, Hold and Flip, Etc. You can meet all types of investors in a club and it will save you from chasing them around.
Join to enhance your knowlege: Dean's Book and this forum is a great source of knowlege in REI. But you will learn how they do REI in the State were you are located. They can help you indentify the hot areas to invest. Hope this helps.

I have found the REI Club to be a great place to network with other investors in my area. Many ideas are shared between the members. Members of the club are very interested in watching each other grow. Each week we talk about what exciting deals are going on and that builds confidence for me. I am a new member of the investor club and I would highly recommend it for you.
and the more you can attend the better. You can find all kinds of things as well as learn and network there. Buyers, realtors, contractors, etc.

I run the local club and it is the best place to find buyers and sellers. This is our third year and it was the best thing I have ever done. Love helping others fill their dreams. Go even if it is a drive. If that one is no good than find another or start one..Keith
