Drywall advice

Can anybody give me a ballpark price on drywall per foot? I just looked at a property that has 3 feet of drywall removed completely around the house. One complete wall the drywall is gone and the ceiling in the kitchen.

Kitchen has already been taken out.

I don't know if I'll have time to get a contractor over there before this property gets listed. I have a chance to try and get it direct from the listing agent prior to listing, but I'm under a time constraint.

I figure I should see if it's in a flood zone because I don't know why else they would remove the drywall. I couldn't inspect the roof, although that wouldn't create enough water for them to remove drywall. Mold? If there was any, it's gone now.

Drywall sheets usually are

Drywall sheets usually are 8' by 4'. One of those sheets will cost you about 8 bucks. So thats $2 per linear foot at that price.

Go to Menards or Home Depot or Lowes and see what their prices are. They should tell you all of the different types of drywall you can use. There are mold resistant boards too!

Drywall plus labor

Thanks....$2 bucks per linear foot PLUS LABOR. That's really what I meant. I mean, you gotta have someone put it up that knows how to texture so the wall looks impeccable when it's done.

My contractor

I had my contractor look at the property today and turns out drywall is the least of my worries if I take on this one. Experienced eyes always see more than I do!

What State ?

You dont quote drywall by lin. ft. its quoted Per Square foot.
Dominic forgot glue, screws, tape, mud, beads if needed as well as the labor, delivery and paint. It varys based on a lot of things
1. Where is it? 3' off the floor or 40' ? Higher = $$$
2. How many sq. ft.? 1 small patch for example could cost $ 200.00
3. Texture? Is it a flat surface or have texture? Texture is extra
4. Floors ? Sanding dust can destroy a carpet !

Note : Drywall is square... you may have to pay someone to remove any existing damaged drywall, and replace wet insulation as well.

Depending on you state & market I would figure around ( M & L ) $ 1.05 per sf for the drywall... A good painter can give you a price to include all listed above.

Dry Wall

I just wanted to add to what raen1234 has said. When you replace the sheet rock 2-3 ft. off the floor, you will want to have a good qualified sheet rock contractor come in and fix it right. You might be able to place the sheet rock, but you will want a good mud and taper. They have the right tools and they can do it fast and they will make it look good. I have seen a lot of homes that did not get done properly and the price of the home had to be reduced just to get rid of it.
Do it right the first time and it will bring you top dollar.

Happy Rehabbing!!!
