Hi,
I've found a house that is abandoned. However, I have the owners name but the only address provided is that of the property it self via the count office web site. What other avenue can I go about contacting the owner since he does not live there? What I do know is he has until August to fix the house, or demolish it as the Sheriffs office told me. He was required to purchased a permit to fix up the property but he has done nothing. The house has been vacant for about 5 years or more and is clearly never going to get the attention it needs. This property was built in 1990 and is externally nice, but inside is rough and will need complete renovation. Please advise as to how to contact this owner be it in writing or in person and what other avenues to find him.
Thanks!
Here are a few thoughts:
Try sending a letter. post office may be able to forward. (You'll know if it doesn't come back to you). You may be able to call and ask if they DO have a forwarding address if the town is small enough.
Can you zabasearch the person?
Ask the neighbors. Even if they don't know the person's whereabouts, they might know a relative you can contact.
Does the tax statement still go to that address? You can call the treasurer.
Leave a note or a business card on the door with your contact info, just in case someone stops by.

Thanks Rina,
What I do know is the family and different members at different times were busted for drugs and sent to jail. The neighbors are unaware of his whereabouts. I will contact the court house again to see if they have other information. I'll send a registered letter to him as well.
Thanks for the zabasearch and all the info you have provided. I was not aware of it.
Tim
you are welcome.
I had a house last year that we bought at a sheriff's sale where it turned out the owner was in prison and her kids lost the house for her by not making the payments, so I know the twists there can be. Good luck with that.

P.S. If you'd like to read the whole interesting story it's in this thread.

This will be fun. But, the property is 1100 miles from me. But, I see it every Christmas as it is just down the street from my mothers place. I have her working on finding more info for me. I'll read the node you posted, thanks.
I love a challenge and this just might be another good find?
Thanks,
Tim
