Americans Still Believe in Home Ownership

The New York Times and CBS News just completed a poll which clearly shows that Americans still believe in home ownership. Nearly nine in ten Americans say that homeownership is an important part of the American dream. They want to keep home ownership in that place for themselves and everyone else. High points of the survey are:

- 45% say that the government should be doing more to improve the housing market, while 16% say it should be doing less.

- 53% believe that the government should offer some direct financial assistance to troubled homeowners.

- Almost no one favors discontinuing the mortgage tax deduction.

- 36% approve of what President Obama has done for housing, while 45% disapprove.

- 42% of respondents blame the lenders for the housing crash, while 29% blame government regulators. These numbers have almost reversed since the same questions were asked in 2008.

- As for buying a house today, 49% consider it risky, while 45% consider it a safe investment.

- One recent home buyer admitted that the value of their home had already dropped by a few percent, but they were still better off than renting due to the mortgage interest deduction.

- Half of those surveyed say that the housing downward spiral has affected their long term plans, with:

> 20% stating that the situation has prevented them from moving to another city or taking a different job.

>Nearly 25% say that their home is now worth less than they owe on the mortgage.
Despite all of the negative responses and continuing housing woes, the majority of Americans believe that the market will improve and housing will again be an important component of life in America.

I am interested in learning

I am interested in learning about the commercial aspects of real estate, but would like to start with 4 plexs until I've gained broader knowledge of investing in real estate. I am also interested in learning about tax lien. The ultimate reward would be learning directly from Dean until I can complete my first real estate deal.

ipad whole selling

I am reading Dean's second book. I am just getting started. I thank whole selling is where I need to start. I have fair credit score and no money,so that is where I plan on starting. Thanks Dean for the great books you have written.

Wholesaling

I want to go back to wholesaling!

Wholesaling

I would like to get into wholesaling but may also hold some properties to rent out creating residual income for myself.

I think I would like to do 2

I think I would like to do 2 things holesaling & a fixer-upper. I want to retire in (2) years & need a little more added to the nest egg. The housing market is in a sham, but we cannot blame Obama for this mess that was created way before he was elected, but I do agree that the homeowners need more direct assistance. The banks are not helping the consumers whose money they hold & use.
