Middletown, NJ - Fellow Investors

Hi All,
Is anyone out there working in this area? I am so ready to go...but this is such a high price area even in todays market that I am having difficulty finding that first deal. All the stories about 60-80K houses, well, they dont exist here. (Except in areas you do NOT want to be) Also, not one REO realtor (out of 6) has even returned any of my calls and messages. I suspect they are all making deals for themselves and friends?! Would love to share ideas and/or maybe even work together. Best of luck to all!

I grew up in NJ and know how expensive it is! My Dad lives in Middletown. You can find a lot of information by using the foreclosure websites, they do have free trial periods so you can get a look at them - it will address, names etc. Once you have address you can go to the court house (call them to find out the department, probably in Freehold for Monmouth county) and look at the property's folder, it will have copies of all of the paperwork/procedings against the property where you can find the bank information and attorney names to contact etc. You can make copies of all the papers (for a fee of course). My current State has a website where I can see the property sales on any property so I can see what was paid and when, NJ has a similar site (but not as user friendly), you can enter an address and get the owner and tax and sale price , you can play around and do advanced search (my State will search by County/Street which is great so I can see everyone's info so I can see comps). The NJ site is http://www.njactb.org/ also another forum to possible get more info on NJ area is The Creative Investor http://www.thecreativeinvestor.com/ great source and I do think there are Jersey people. Something just came to mind - when you reach a road block, go around it picture that Parkway traffic, some times you just have to get off at another exit and take the back roads, thank God for alternate routes!
Best of Luck to you,
Lynne

Thanks Lynne

Hi! Been offline a couple days - house hunting ha! Thanks for the great info and links. I am so ready to go and it seems like there just arent enough hours in the day between the 'regular' job and this! I have explored realty.trac on the free 7 day trial - but find too much of their information out of date. I will just have to find the time to go to the courthouse like you suggest. Where do you live now, and have you been doing real estate long? I am so excited to make my first deal I can taste it! Thanks again,
Laura
