PASSION

PASSION

PASSION: Are you born with it, or does it grow in you? My favorite game growing up was Monopoly (of course). But we made our own rules. I didn’t let anyone go bankrupt. I’d pay off their mortgages and then give them 5 times the value of the property so they could stay in the game. I don’t ever remember a game where I didn’t win, owning all the land and all the money at the end, and yet all the players feeling like I tried my best to give them a chance. What’s up with that? Was I just a control freak or was that the inborn passion of a real estate investor? Does anyone else know what I’m talking about?
There are other things I am very passionate about in life, obviously, but there’s just something that a real estate deal does for you. It’s a kind of high. Even the money is more a fringe benefit to the game.
I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way, and if that’s something you can pick up or are you just born with it? I wish for everyone on this site to experience the feeling. There are only a few things in life that compare.

I'll try again.

Is there NO ONE else that feels this way about real estate?
If no one answers, I'll give it one final try and then assume that I am the only weird fanatic. Smiling

You know I am usually on top of things on here but this one slipped past me. The topic being passion. Well let me tell you about my passion.

For too many years to remember I have been a computer guru, nut, nerd, junky, dork or what ever you want to call it. Every business I ever had centered somewhere around a computer - THAT WAS MY PASSION. I lived, dreamed, worked and saw - computers in every aspect of my life. But soon that passion turned into burnout and soon to reluctance. I no longer wanted to work on a computer, fix it, teach it, or anything.

For the last few years I have just felt like I was wondering.. Then after coming across Deans infomercial and getting the book and program - I feel like I know why I am living again. It has been so long since I work before day to run to the computer. before it was to work on them - now its to check out dg.com and see what I missed on the east coast because they are up before me. Its to check the early morning posting looking for that "GREAT DEAL". It is to feel my adrenaline running when I do find that deal and start working the numbers on it in anticipation of what it could mean to my MILLION DOLLAR portfolio that I am working on.

Girl if that is not PASSION - PASSION FOR REI - then I don't know what is.

THANK you!

Should I change the topic name? Is it too scary?

I feel ya

I was in a mood typing this a second ago, but my fiances new computer is starting to make me mad. The touchpad is one of those new ones that has that scroll on the side, and the pad is so big that my palms hit all the time. I had the perfect comment too. Anyway. I feel the same way. My fiance gets mad at me all the time when I'm driving because I either slow down or turn my head to make a commment on some type of property that we had just gone by. I love it everytime I pull up to a new piece property with my realtor because the dancing before and after pictures are dancing accross the horizon of my mind. Everytime I walk in the door for the first, second or more time because I see what I could do with this place to make it so much better. It's intoxicating what I can do with a piece of property. I love it. I too wake up to check this site, and realtor.com for new pieces of information that I'd be interested in. I live it everyday and it consumes all of my internet surfing. I don't hardly ever watch my UFC, CSI or others because I'm watching HGTV behind the computer screen for new ideas. It is the best thing besides my fiance to ever happen to me and I'm truly happy to be doing it. Anyway, I'm going to stop typing to allow room for other people to share their feelings. Thank you for opening up this forum for people to post their feelings! Great idea and keep up the great work!!!

I too grew up playing monopoly, and I can't tell you how many versions we have. Another game I want is "Cashflow Quadrant" so that I can get out of the rat race.

I love it!! lol

One of my favorite things about my husband working out-of-town sometimes (it's not very often) is when I get to go with him. I stay at the hotel and watch HGTV all day long. (we don't have cable at home). When he gets back, he says sorry I had to sit and be bored all day. Smiling (My eyes are sore from watching TV.) Every new idea I see, House Hunters, Trading Spaces, whatever, just sticks in my head like it's some piece of magical info that's going to change my life forever. lol.
By the way, if anyone knows how to get HGTV online, please let me know. Haha

P.S. jd, I like the "dancing before and after pictures" thought.

you know .....?

I am like one of those people that over ANALIZE things and if i get into something wether it be a hobbie or work related i have a problem, i have to master it, i never accept average, being o.k., like BOWLING- when i got into bowling i was o.k. i guess, but then my competetive nature kicked in and in 3-4 years of being a part of 2 leagues a week my bowling AVERAGE was 205.13 and i also bowled a 299 game and 1, 300 (perfect game) so this correlates with investing in the sense that i am diligent and will not stop @ nothing less than knowing eveything i possibley can about real estate, YOUR HERO,SULLY.
