GPS (global Positioning System)
I had been bugging my brother to buy me one not because I really thought I needed it but because he is CHEAP and I just wanted him to spend some money...lol.
Well Staples had them on sale a few weeks ago TOM TOM's for 99.00. He bought me one and his wife one (hee took her back).
I installed it in my truck and used it to locate properties in parts of the city I was not familiar with. I then thought I might try it out in th rural areas. I had steered away from those area because they dont have signs up like the city and with todays gas prices I would go broke trying to locate a property so I passed up a lot of potential deals.
Well the long and short of it is this. Since getting the GPS I get to properties almost twice as fast as before, I am saving gas because I dont have to get lost to find it and it has totally streamlined my REI day almost to precision.
Summary: It is the one REI tools that was not mention but should be at the top of everyones list.

We have been using a handheld for three plus years for hiking, boating, driving... ect.
Last week we went to Sioux City, IA and looked at 8 properties and found these by downloading their coordinates into my handheld Garmin.
It also keeps track of the overall miles traveled (tracks) and total time on the trip. Which I plug these into Real Estate Pro software.
Someday - after selling our first few properties, I want to to upgrade and get a full size vehicle GPS
