I had friends that said after my first failure when trying my next transaction "didn't you learn from the last one." For the fist several years I was told many, many times that I could not do what I trying to do.
If I had to do it over again I would have gotten a coach; someone that has done this before. The mistakes that I saw I would have avoided and gotten better result.
Coaching works because you can catapult off of other experiences, learn far above your normal learning curve and avoid unnecessary troubles.

I too was inspired by your story CBR. It is your testimony and a beautiful one. Don't ever be afraid to give God the glory for what he has done for you. Someone out there may be desperately at their wit's end and may need to know that you got to where you are- not by intelligence but through your determination and more importantly by God's grace, with His favor, and guiding love. We can all things through Christ who is our strength. He is my strong tower too and without Him I can do nothing. More power to you CBR! You are an inspiration.

Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.
I've been through some of the coaching. It is top notch. I thought there wouldn't be a lot of new stuff for me, but I was surprised by the amount of new things I picked up.
It's not like distant learning, it is all very interactive. The coaches are great, and know a ton. They go into details that relate to very current market conditions and very specific examples of different aspects of real estate deals. Often times it comes from stories of their very own deals and how they solved a problem, or creative ideas on getting insider info, making a good judgment call, lots of different things.
The little tips and tricks are some of the invaluable things to know, because some of them seem so obvious once you hear them, but they are the things you often never think to do or overlook.
If you're truly serious about making it in real estate, take the coaching if you can. If you're the type of person who is serious, but can't seem to get things done without a extra push, especially take the coaching if you can. If you're the type of person who is going to talk about the day you start to make in real estate, but not actually take any initiative at all to get there, you'll still learn a lot, but without doing anything with it, you're not going to change a thing.
I can tell you, once you have a vested interest by getting in coaching, you have a lot more incentive to actually do something, because you've put your money where your mouth is so to speak.
I know, for some the cost of coaching may sound expensive, especially if you are just getting started and money is tight. However, if you can manage it, even if it means tightening up on other spending (as mentioned in the replies before mine), it is worth it. You have to weigh it against the reward you hope to achieve. If you've resigned to the idea that it probably won't work out for you in real estate, so it's best to save your money, you are likely right on both fronts. But, if you are serious about this, it is an opportunity that should be considered.
Coaching is by no means a prerequisite for being successful in real estate, but it does give you head start and fast track you down the right path.
