Wanted to share this site with everyone

I came across this website while searching for owner information. I don't know if anyone has used it but I thought I would share it anyway. It gives you info. on the property like owner names, date last sold and how much sold for, taxes, property size etc... I found it very useful.

Thank you, Carol.

That appears to be a great site for the counties it includes. Our county uses a similar system called landshark. Smiling

Thanks again for your contribution.

How to find out mortgate on a property

I have come across some interesting properties in my area that look like they have potential. When i finally track down the owners to see if they would consider selling, most of the time they tell me that they would, they are willing to talk to me about the property, however, when it comes down to asking them if they are carrying a mortgage on it, i get hesitation from them and they opt not to disclose this information to me. We'll, as you all know, in order for me to be able to do some due diligence, i need to find out if they own $ and how much. Any suggestions on how i can go about finding out if they have a loan, how much for, etc.

Your opinions and comments welcome.

Mati - I think you can find

Mati - I think you can find that information by going down to your local county courthouse. You can talk to the property assessor to get the date that the current owner purchased the property, and sometimes they have the info right there on purchase price and mortgage amount, but they always have the date. Then you go to the recorders office and have them show you how to look up the documents. Find the documents from when the home was purchased (based on the date) and you can see exactly what the mortgage papers say, and it will help you figure out how much they still owe. There may be an easier way, but I am pretty sure that way will work if you need to do it on your own.

Good luck!

Finding Out How Much a Seller Owes on their Mortgage

Great suggestion and i have already looking at this route. Even though you can often see what their original purchase price and date was on a home, if they settled their loan, if they have other loan, etc., what i can't determine is just HOW MUCH THEY STILL owe on a house and calling the lender won't help if you are not the actual borrower. Any suggestions welcome.

Mati
