Here is something for you to consider. Electronic signatures hold the same value as written signatures thanks to laws written in 1999 and 2000. However, technology moves at a slow pace, especially when it is a bank looking to do a short sale. While electronic signatures are now commonplace for Realtors (as an example,California Realtors have the electronic platform available for all dues paying members), banks are looking for comparative signatures on short sale forms and have no way to validate them through the electronic platform. That said, a number of the major lending institutions will absolutely not accept electronic signatures on any documents. It doesn't mean that your Short sale won't go through eventually, but you will have to scramble around trying to resign all the documents quickly if the short sale gets to the approval stage. So, save yourself some aggravation and just do a hard signing the first time for short sales.

Did one several weeks ago. Did the electronic signature first when I made my offer, but like you said, when the offer was accepted they required actual signatures. It was not that big of a deal, took me 5 minutes to download the doc, sign it, scan it and send it back. But, like you said if you sign first time you can avoid this hassle. Then again, e-contracts are MUCH faster to submit than a regular signed contract.

that's how banks want us to do it, because they are not going through the hazzle of it, or paying for it!
