Belonging to the local REIA

Belonging to the local REIA

Are you a member of the local REIA? If not, why not?! Its the best place to run into your local investors and get IN the network. Yes there will be a lot of folks who have never done a deal or buy every course but don't pull the trigger, but there will also be the guy who started 5 years ago that now has a successful rehab business or owns 20 rentals, or can find the best wholesale deal. But don't do there to only GET, but go there to GIVE. Jump in and volunteer to be the set up guy or the take down guy, be the check in guy, or vendor guy, show folks that you are WANTING this and willing to GIVE. Michelle and I started at the REIA probably 5 years ago, and 2 years ago, because of the reputation we had, they asked us to take over a subgroup. Talk about feeling honored! And we didn't have a clue the positives of this except that we didn't have to pay the, I think $150 dues. We just got home from our subgroup meeting, we had over 35 folks attend and one of the big rehabber/new build guys there teaching. This subgroup use to have 6 folks show up and Michelle and I were 2 of them. We realized that now we are even more connected to the BIG DOGS and folks looks at us like we have to be smart and have all the knowledge and everything because we are running a group. It REALLY helps you to get connected into the network and that's what this business is about, RELATIONSHIPS! So here it is, if your not a member, go join, if your a member but not volunteering, go get involved!

Joining Local REIA

I agree! I put it off for like ever - then just last week joined some REI Meetup groups. Choose carefully, since so many of the so-called brainstorming groups are nothing more than 2-3 hour live infomercials selling highly priced how-to-start programs. That was the first meeting I attended. The second was a Cashflow Game night with a small group - had a blast and met some potential deal partners. It felt good too to realize that practically all the REI lingo was familiar to me, having already learned plenty here and via Dean's books. Looking forward to attending other meetings and getting more involved in the lifestyle. That's what it's all about, right jackk09?! Great suggestion - Thanks!

Hey Ron

Glad you finally took the step to get out to the local REIA, its a great place to network. Jump in and help where you can, you'll get in with some great folks when they see you serving the group also. I had to laugh about the infomercials comment, yeah you have to be on watch for those but you can always pick up some nuggets with those also. Just make sure you practice the most important word before going in, NO. Then you will leave with your wallet intact, the CC balance low, and money still in the checking account. Joking aside, we have purchased some programs and training, there is nothing wrong with it as long as its not collecting dust on the shelf. You can get just about anything you need right here with Dean and his programs, and with just attending the local meetings. Have a great weekend!
