OfflineI feel empowered having a copy of my Experian credit report. What is remarkable is the promptness of reporting by creditors to this particular credit bureau. Why is it important to know what is on your credit report?
- To alleviate problems when seeking financing
- To ensure there is no fraudulent activities
- To allow you to manage bill payments
- To make you aware of where you stand regarding
outstanding debts
- To make sure your payments are being reported

Cash is King and Credit is Key! Thus, it is a great idea to review and monitor what others are reviewing when extending credit to you. You already listed some really good advantages. I would also consider the monitoring service that comes with some of these credit bureau agencies. They email you based on criteria guidelines you setup. Thus, you can quickly react to chanegs and be advised if there is any issues such as fraudulent activities or identity theft. Continued success! Believe and Achieve!

Also you would want to make sure you get a report from all of the credit reporting agencies. Each one can pull different creditors from the other. Continued success.........Lubertha

Whats the best way to get your credit report and know that it is accurate? I know a lot of people say freecreditreport.com and places like that... What do you guys recommend?

Thanks for the great reminder! I use TrueCredit.com . You can get all 3 of your credit reports (Transunion, Experian, & Equifax) and for just a little bit extra, your scores. Plus I think they remind you once a year to get your FREE credit report fro one of the bureaus thru annualcreditreport.com .
The nice thing about pulling your own credit report is that it doesn't put a ding on your credit as when it's pulled by a lender (or other). You can do it as many times as you want to. The monitoring service Joe mentioned is great, too. There have been a few discrepancies I've had to clear up on mine. Minor ones, but still, it's nice to be aware.

Thanks Rina!! I was talking to Anita the other day on Facebook IM and my profile picture was a car and she was like "You really need to put a picture of yourself for your profile. People take you more seriously when they actually see a picture of who they are talking to!!" So figured I would put a picture of me and the G/F!! lol
don't allow those companies (that don't need to be accessing your personal credit information if you have no business dealings with them in the first place) to pull your credit report.

I agree Joe, credit is also key in any area of business, even when applying for a job, where now they view you credit report as a basis, when hiring. It is also great as you said to see what others are looking at. Joe the monitoring service that you mentioned, are their services free of charge. Well I am so excited, that I intend to monitor every activity I make regarding payments. My sincere thanks to you.

Thanks for providing the info concerning the various ways of retrieving your credit reports. Your free annual credit report, as Rina said, has no impact on your credit score. You could also call all three credit reporting agencies and they mail them to you free of charge.

One of the best things anybody can do is,Lock your credit...You cannot even get in!(Yes you can by,Un-locking it)
