Ok, here is one that threw me for a loop which made me start researching things. Okay, I had a lady call this evening who saw my bandit sign. I asked her about the property, and it seems like a decent property. 3 bedrooms 2 baths with 3 additional rooms in the basement, 3500 sq. ft. new roof, siding, water heater, air, and gutters.
I went through the list of questions, and I asked how much she wanted for the house. She says all she wants is what she owes which is 34k. As our conversation grew on, she told me that they put new siding on the house but painted over the siding the color purple. I went on with the conversation, I asked why she is needing to sell her home. She is 100% convinced that the house is haunted, and that's why she painted the house purple to keep the ghosts out. SHe bought the property 6 years ago knowing that their was a double murder that took place in the home. So, with doing a quick due diligence, I called one of my daughter's friends that lives in the same town. Coulter is a small town with a population of 1200 people. She did verify that there was a double murder that took place in that home.
Now, with Coulter being such a small town, do you think it will be hard to get rid of because of the harsh past that house had? Second, Iowa law states that if you believe your house to be haunted, or if a murder happened in the home you have to disclose that to the buyer. Do any of you know about this??
So, what do you all think about this one? If I where going to get this, I would not hold on to this for a retail buyer, I would assign this property and get rid of it.
Looking for some honest opinions....

Tell the ghosts to move out! LOL. I would disclose it (re: double murders) its really up to buyers whether they want to buy it. An investor probably wouldn't really care that much about the house's haunting guests.

In FL it must be disclosed if the owner believes the house is haunted or if a murder took place, not sure about other states though. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to re-sell the house considering it's history but am interested to hear what others think about this.

Oh my, I have talked to alot of people about their houses and have heard some weird things, but this is by far the strangest thing I have heard. I'm sure the investor wouldn't care, but would he care if he couldn't unload the property?? It's making me think twice about this. In Iowa you do have to disclose of any hauntings or murders. Would like to see what other's have to say about this...lol

P.S. I swear I am not making this up...lol

If you have someone to sell to then why not? Some people may want to buy because it IS haunted. This is the perfect time of year for it too!
would you even go in the house to check it out or have you already? I have a feeling the ghosts would know what your intentions would be and not like you for it. Kinda funny but at the same time very creepy, like that movie Haunting in Connecticut where they bought that haunted house which was based on a true story. For me I don't think I could do it since I believe in spirits/ghosts, but more power to you if can.
@Atlcamel- Youre just wrong! LOL!
ROFL...Let me stop!...In all seriousness, find someone that likes haunted houses like helpinvested said.

If you go with it you might want to be sure to subtract any ghost busters you might have to hire.. hehehe
Sorry couldn't resist. I don't know what I would do either hopefully you get some good responses on this

I am not going to go look at or in the property. My husband who is also my partner is going to go do the dirty work for me...lol. When in doubt, I always send my hubby. I believe in ghosts/spirits/evil things I can't see. If I can't see it, I don't like to mess with it. I thought the lady was loopy, but after doing research, she might not be. It's cheap (I hope it would be due to the past) and since I saw a Haunting in Conneticut things like that I just don't want to mess with or upset, or disturb. I don't want to make anyting that might be in there upset with me...lol

What an interesting property you have found - I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes when your husband sees the property/talks to the lady.
