Why is Craigslist Posting a link from the BBB about investors scamming?

Why is Craigslist Posting a link from the BBB about investors scamming?

Just wanted to know what Craigslist is up to by trying to warn distressed homeowners about investors being a foreclosure rescue scammer?? Am I missing something or what? Just kind of concerns me. What does anyone else gather from this article from BBB?? just kinda makes me mad about what they are trying to say. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks. http://roswell.craigslist.org/apa/ http://www.bbb.org/alerts/article.asp?ID=593

BBB

That article does not bother me at all! I don't practice any of those scams they talk about in the article. There are low life people in our business! We never offer to let someone stay in there home and always request that the seller have our contract checked by their attorney. We do everything upfront and with full disclosure so no worries!

RE: BBB

I could be taking it completely wrong and I probably am for someone just starting out as a real estate investor. I just think that they should have implied that there are many of us are wanting to also help this homeonwners out in an honest and ethical way. My personal opinion is I think the article would make any distressed homeowner want to close the door on even the ones (us as investors wanting to do the right thing providing a solid solution for the homeowner) making a bad name and rep for investors wanting to do the right thing. I just think the article written would make any distressed homeowner leery of anyone wanting to help them out honestly altogether. Well I just wanted some feed back. As dean has said no question is a dumb question. Thanks Michael.

Personally know someone

who fell for a scam. They promised that they would save her home and let her stay in it. (How is this possible when your income has been cut in more than half and you can't pay your mortgage?) Then a couple weeks later she tells me she's going to do a short sale....but in reality she couldn't do a short sale because she has two loans on the property and second wouldn't go for it. I tried to give her advice, but she was in denial of the reality of the situation....and I was just learning about real estate, so maybe she thought I didn't know anything. In the end it went into foreclosure. I heard through someone else that she paid $1700 for this "service". It's a shame. I'm sure she could have used that money for something better.

Re: Personally know someone.....

Wow mb that is quite a shame. I am just barely starting out and I plan to do my very best honestly and ethically to help distressed homeowners out by providing a solution. From the looks of it, it just seems they were doing your best to save her but just didn't no very well what they were doing. Thing is we can't force anyone to realize that they are making a mistake if they don't choose to allow us as in investors to help them out if they won't see the light of it. I wrote this post because I thought the article from BBB didn't help us out. Like I told Micheal I could have misinterpreted it. it just made me concerned because of what was said. With all said that homeowner should have sought more advice. i am still learning so forgive me if my answer was not in conjunction with your reply. Did she intentionally want to scam her. Thanks mb.

Someone Responded to

us a while back wanting a SS done on their property. The year before they were scammed by a fly-by-night creep for $250. After the homeowner told me about this I explained that only attorney's can charge a homeowner for loan mods or short sales. He ended up asking us to help him with his SS (which is still in progress.) Unfortunately, people like that make it difficult for those of us who really care and want to help.

My thing here is

No Real Investor would allow Anyone to just stay in their home , & there are many Knock off , wonna be Real Estate investors who are into Scamming good People .

I'm like someone else who posted I also Work with my clients in A honest & upfront manner & you should this is A business we are into rather if it is just for Extra Income , I rather do Honest Work then Do Dirty Work any time.

I would say If you're Honest & let your Clients Know what your doing & do it Legally & Honestly You do not have anything to be Worried about.

Re: Somone Responded to

Hey thanks Lea for replying. The last part of what you said is exactly what I was implying when it came to me reading that article from BBB. When homeowners read that article and then they get a flier or a call or a visit it only makes them see us (the real deal makers/Investors) as shady people all together. Why can't these scammers do things the right way by getting the training like we are and stop making honest investors like us just starting out a bad name. That's what made me mad about the article and also the fact that the BBB didn't put a word in about honest investors at all. So what are distressed homeowners really supposed to think?? The fact that some of them already quite know that we are cashing in on their misfortune. I ahve heard that a lot of homeowners do not like the idea of us making a profit off their distressed property. I am basically saying I just wish they would have wrote something positive about the people that actually want to help distressed homeonwers and at least making them aware that there are actually honest investors that will help the distressed homeowner. I think pursonally they need to revise the article be that it's on Craigslist where investors like to post and network together.
