Great post Rando1 ! I was once one of those stubborn naysayers and now I'm working on my first deal. It feels liberating. Keep on your brother. He'll appreciate the push when he's seeing the money coming in like you are.

Even if you show them, they find a way to say your wrong. They want something for nothing.

Randy, your brother is like my wife. She used to work for a title company and used to see people (investors) come in and refinance their investment properties and get cut checks from between $10K - $50K.

I tried to explain what they were doing and because it was borrowed money, it was not considered income so they didn't have to pay taxes on it.

She would tell me stories of them talking to her after the closings saying they were going to take a trip to Vegas or spend a couple of weeks traveling across the U.S. etc. and she was just in awe of it all. She would say things like, "I wish that was us", "I wish we had that kind of money", "I wish... (you fill in the blank and she probably said it)". However, when I try to talk to her about investing in real estate, she doesn't think we can do it. You have to have money to make money and all the other excuses, newbies have been told their whole lives.

I think she is just scared and to tell you the truth so am I. I think we're both afraid of failure. But if I had a brother like you, I would surely jump on the bandwagon and get to work.

I've been guilty of trying desperately to help others see the light. But, finally, I realized "words don't teach" - only experience teaches. So, the best thing any of us can do, is BE the best self we can and let our experience inspire someone else find their own personal compelling reason to take the brave step to trying it for themselves. And once they have their own personal experience, their perspective changes. But, as humans, it's hard to watch our friends and family miss out on something we feel so passionate about. Hang in there and keep those RE deals happening, and eventually, he'll get it (or he won't - but that doesn't have to effect your success one bit!)

Hey Brian, I still have a serious fear of talking to sellers and buyers, I still have fears of being a failure. You know all you hear about is our success stories. Well, I've had a lot more deals fall apart than went thu. It can be devastating, emotionally draining and seriously depressing... It takes a lot of effort to fight thru the fear and pain. It's so easy to say, just brush off the dirt and get back up.

Well for me its do or die, I got a wife and 4 little kids that need to eat. I start rationalizing, well hell that deal almost made it, ther are bound to be some deals that cross the finish line, I'm gonna try harder, I'm gonna get busy, I'm gonna double and triple my efforts. I can do this.

And it takes sacrifice, sell that motorcycle, use the money for marketing and getting deals. Heck yea its a gamble, your family is worth it. rando
