A New life for a New year

A New life for a New year

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having an awesome start to a great and exciting new year!!

Finally decided to post something instead of just lurking around the forums.

I recently finished reading PFRERN and I'm waiting for the delivery of the other book BAREM. I'm having to read it again to digest all of the information properly.

My goal is to doing something daily that will progress my REI career. So far I've talked to two different agents about two different properties that I saw over this past weekend. And guess what...agents are real people too...who knew??!!! Also, I've looked at two different REI clubs in my area and I'm hoping to select the one that will be able to help mentor me as well. The RE Academy is another goal in sight for this year.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone. If you are in the Las Cruces (NM)\ El Paso (TX) area let me know... it would be nice to meet a REI from the DG family.

Take Care

From a around the block investor as Dean calls me, I would like to give you a kudo on looking at REI clubs. Quite simply it will be the 2nd best move you will make, the first ordering the books of course.
You will meet people just like you. Some seasoned pros and some new to the game. It is a great way to network, build your buyers list, and absorb a ton of good info. Don't be afraid to stand up and ask questions.
I am actually giving a presentation at my club next week which I am excited about. I always push this site and the great things we are doing here. Anyway, welcome to your new life and much success....Jan

Congratulations! You and I are kindered spirits...You paraphrased my story to the tee except that I have been out of work for a year and am looking to do something that is a "Life Changing" event. I, too, have been looking into REI clubs. I believe there are many with experience that we may be able to tap into....Good luck on your new career and I know you will make a fortune!

Dion,

Congratulations for taking action in 2010 because it is a new year and a fresh start. Try to focus on the future and learn from the past. You may want to consider joining both local real estate investment clubs in your area if you have time. This is a great way to network with other investors and build a buyer’s list and maybe even find a partner for a few deals. Try to do a little each day to get you closer to your goals and dreams. Good luck with real estate investing. Believe and Achieve! - Joe

Course of Action

Okay, so I've been lurking around the forums for a few days...finally got the other book in the mail last week (be a real estate millionaire). From what I gather from some of the forum star players that if I'm feeling ovwerwhelmed...and I am...then starting off small might be the answer. So I did what some have suggested to do first...'decide on a course of action'.

"Leasing Options, Assignments, and Flipping...oh my." (If you know what hollywood production film my above quote is similiar too then you might still be a kid at heart.)

I decided to create a goal sheet first, this way...if I was truly honest with myself about my intentions...then it would help me to narrow down my path coices and hopefully lead me to my objective. Here are my desired goals..so far:

3 - 5 months
1. Renting at least 4 properties
2. Perform at least 2 assignments
3. Purchase my personal home. (Sharing the rent with my GF)
4. Passive income of $1,500 a month.

6 - 12 months

1. Renting at least a total of 8 properties
2. Preform at least 4 more assignments
3. Perform a lease to own option
4. Passive income of $3,000 a month.

Well from my goals it looks like 'Renting' will be my primary start path as a REI. So that means that I'm going to go back to the Profit from Real Estate Now book and focus a good portion of my attention on Path #3. Hmmmm...all of sudden I'm not so overwhelmed... for the moment. I'll check back in once I have read Path #3 chapters a few more times.

Thanks everyone for your encouragements.
