I live in MN and noticed that there has been much less activity on billboards for "We Buy Ugly Houses" and posters on light posts for "We Buy Houses." I guess it could be because I live in MN and we are just coming out of a snowy, cold winter. Does anyone else know why there would be less activity like this?

Hi Cyle:
I have noticed same decrease in activity over here in NYC as well.
I hope it is not a trend everywhere.
-- TIME IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE, SO STOP WASTING IT --
I have been living in western New York for the past fifteen months, and I have no recollection of seeing any of these signs. I have especially been looking for them since buying my BARM book, and to date I have seen none. I hope things will get better soon.

I live in NC and we see "We Buy Houses" signs all the time. I hear its the same further south from here in Atlanta. The only time we get short on signs is when the city rips them down than we as investors put them right back up. Cause if we can get one call that leads to a deal it was all worth it.
GOD Bless
GOD first.
I live in southern CA and have only seen a few and none recently. We set up our 1-800 telephone recording yesterday. Our goal is to have bandit signs and flyers up by next weekend. Can't wait till motivated sellers are calling me. And the best part is that my signs will be working even when I am not! Oh I did find a template for tear off signs on Microsoft templates.

I am from PA, I actually am seeing offices that are "we buy houses" all over the place its amazing because they are potential buyers!

I am in the Apple Valley/Eagan area and see them every weekend. I know a couple groups who put them out Friday morning and pick them up Sunday night. If you are not seeing any around you, then you should put your own up . These guys are getting 15-20 messages a weekend and 1 or 2 of them usually pan out.

Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't see your thread right away. I live in the Uptown area. How's your business going?

Hi Nelson,
Maybe try going one town over. Or maybe try doing postcards. Continued success.......Lubertha

I am in western Chicago area, and after a long period of no signage activity (corresponding with what we call "Chicago winter") I have seen the spring come, and with it the roadside blossoming of the yellow Bandit Sign flowers. There's one "stop foreclosure" group that has covered a 20 mile radius pretty good. I called them, and they are wanting to rescue me via short sale on my house. So I don't think they will be of much use to me.
Also, competing for turf are those pesky "seeks apprentice" weeds, which I have not seek for at least a year, and I thought had been eradicated, but are proving to be quite hardy.

With that much marketing, it becomes imperative that your message doesn't fall into the lump-sum "we buy houses" concept. Dean has fantastic ideas for standing out with the marketing, you just have to craft what you feel makes it more personal and a call to action for the potential seller. Remember, everybody has a "hot button" and if you manage to nail it they will be calling you instead of them. I agree with the postcard idea...I use it myself on FSBO's and when I spot garage sales in the paper identifying it as a "moving sale." I also use flyers in high-volume locations. If you are not confident in a tear-down advertisement, focus on the other ideas mentioned. Go back to Dean's book PFRERN and look for his tips and examples. Best of luck to you!

Hi Nelson,
I also sent out postcards last week. Becase I felt my area was fludded with signs. Rina mentioned that we might hand write a line or two to make it personal. Continue success...........Lubertha

at first i figured my advertisement would just get lost in translation so to speak, but ill give it a try and come up with something that might trigger them to call me instead. thanks again
