Tips for working from home

FOR MANY BUSINESS owners, working from home can bring efficiency, reduce overhead and create more time to spend with family. The downside: distractions.
*Have a designated work area. Forget the kitchen table-have a room with a door to call your own. Train your family to know you are unavailable when the door is closed.
*Keep set hours. It can be e asy to take a few hours off in the afternoon, then work till midnight. The problem is that this can lead to you working to many hours or not enough, resulting in either exhaustion or a lack of business growth. Try to keep your hours in line with the rest of your industry.
*Have a “second office.” A change of scenery can make you more productive. So grab the laptop and head off to a coffee shop or local library for some creative thinking.
*Go to networking events. It’s easy to become solitary working from home, making you unmotivated and uninspired. Meeting new people will not only keep you sharp, it may even bring in new business.
*Schedule your time. Set aside blocks of time throughout the day and week for work, chores, meals, errands and “me time”.

Your right about working from home

I work from home and when my kids get home from school I tend to get a little distracted. Having to help them with their homework and stuff. I try to get most of my real estate work done before they get home. I do need an office, it would definitely give me more space and time to get things done. I would be getting an home office soon, until then I will manage.

Dan and I are making an office here in the house. We had set up one in his shop but its inconvenient and cold so we are moving in the house. I have an office at my business now too. So I can have a variety. At my business office i get distraction also, so when I need the solitude. I can usually find it.
I think though no matter where you are you have to stick to your schedule. thanks Coach!

So right

I had found myself in a bit of a slump but sat down with my husband/partner and tweaked what we are doing. We have now set aside a set numbers each day to work at the business and have given ourselves certain tasks to be done each day.

this has helped in not only making better use of time but in giving us a feeling of accomplishment. We have tangible things we can see we have been doing to move business forward.

Thanks, Coach
warmest regards,
Lisa
