finding the owners if vacant properties

finding the owners if vacant properties

Hello all, I have gotten a lot of great information from this site and wanted to thank everyone. I have started looking into vacant properties in my area and am trying to figure out how to find out who owns them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks again.

If you google your tax assessors office for the county in which the property is in you can then locate the owner through a property search if you see an out of state address you may have stumbled across a motivated seller depending on your contact of them and screening the seller best of luck

Another great way that I have found is to knock on the neighbors doors and ask. They are often glad to help because they are tired of the eyesore in their neighborhood and hoping you will fix it up.

I have also put a bandit sign either on the house itself or in the front yard. Tends to get calls coming to you. If not the owner themselves, people wanting to buy the property. Don't tell potential buyers you don't own it yet or they may find the seller before you do. Just say " I haven't decided what I am going to do with it yet" and get their info for when you DO get it under contract!

County Records

Many of the county records will have interactive maps where you can find the lot and then click on it to reveal the parcel code and owner information. Be aware that the property owner is not always the tax payer and visa versa.
