OfflineI was so nervous I first posted in the wrong forum, sorry. I live in a rural small town. Really wonder if this can work here. I need to finally get off my duff and get to work. I don't like the rat race and want out! I want freedom!! Financial Freedom! Real Estate is the subject I know the most about, but still need to learn more. I am most familar with the research end of it and am familar with type of documents used. I'm in my 50's and wonder if it is still possible for me to succeed? To be financially free, would be the ultimate for me. Paycheck to paycheck in not how I want to live anymore. Any advice or shared experience would be very, very welcome! Thank You.

P.S. My suggestion to you is to start with assignments ... you don't need cash, credit, or any bank loans ... all you need is a buyers and sellers list, and your experience. The sky's the limit...

Hey June, I just want to tell you what Dean and everyone else says. "Take action." I'm 24 yrs old and in NYC. Its hard to do, but just do it. Read, ask and just look around the neighbor looking at properties. Listen to taharka. I've been at it for 2 weeks now. Assignments is the way to go I feel if your starting out with no credit. No loan, no banks. In 2 weeks, I've posted 10 ads. I have 5 potential investors to respond to. Today I'm having a conversation with my potential "dream team Realtor" (you will read about in dean's book). Age is just a number. You can do it. We believe in you. Feel free to ask me any questions at anytime and I'll try and do my best to respond to them. The sky is the limit.

Welcome to the site! You will learn a lot here and get much motivation.
Just read, read. read and study, study, study. You want to know what you are talking about when you first approach realtors and buyers and sellers.
I suggest you fill out your bio more fully. There may be others close to you that you can network with. Also, if you have questions, it helps if we know where you are located. Different things work better in some areas than others.
Age only will get in your way if you let it. I am also in my 50s and I just think of it as an asset! Life experience is priceless!

This is a cant lose system, if you take action. It's all about you. If you think this is not going to work, than it probably won't work for you. Believe & take action, the results you are looking for will happen!

Remember this is not one of those get rich quick schemes. There is work to do, & effort is needed. Write down detailed goals and create a plan. Read those everyday and allways take action. This can take time or it can happen very quickly, there are many factors involved. My advice to you is be organized & take action. Good luck to you in your venture.

Also, read DG's books-they are the best!

like so many other facets of life; you will receive from it in proportion to what you put in. This is a serious business and has plenty of distractions and things that can go wrong. But the more you educate yourself, the more confident you will become. You'll be fine if you don't force things and do them in the right time.

Wow, thanks all for your responses. I guess there is "life out there", after all. You've renewed my believe that some people really care and are willing to help if I dare to reach out.
Being in my 50's, I guess, has me thinking about my life a lot lately. Where I am, where I am not, and where I want to be. Being in Real Estate has always been a constant dream of mine. Maybe, the pain of realizing where I'm at right now, is becoming greater than the fear of stepping out of my comfort zone and reaching for it. Real estate is where I have the most knowledge(but still need to learn a lot more)and have always had the most interest in. You're right, I need to set goals and make a plan and take action. My life is definitely,...not what I thought it would be. I need to change that.
