Merry Christmas and a Bright New Year!

As another holiday approaches….. I find myself overwhelmed by a mixture of emotions….. One moment I’m reminiscent about the excitement of Christmas past’s and the magical moments we shared as siblings. The next I’m saddened by the loss of loved ones over the years, wishing they were still here with us. The closing of the year behind me leaves me in anticipation of the year ahead.

The girls are all grown now, living their own lives. The decorations are out but they are just sitting on the coffee table waiting for me. It’s not the same without anyone here to enjoy them with. I used to love decorating, taking the girls outside and watching their faces light up with each decoration. That’s what the holidays are about, family and friends!

The commitment and time it took to buy, assemble and wrap every present perfectly. Imagining the moment they wake up and run down the hall towards the tree, whispering “who’s gonna wake mom up.” The video camera steadily recording every precious moment. Then after everyone’s exhausted every toy we began the feasting, the house was filled with the smell of freshly baked food. The table was set while we chattered away about this and that, great stories filled with laughter.

As we get older, life goes on and Christmas changes. If you’re lucky enough to have family or friends near you, make sure to visit them. Take time to send a card or make a phone call. No one should be alone this time of year. We should reach out to those that are sick, have no family or friends. That’s what the true spirit of Christmas is about.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a bright New Year!

I apologize for not being on here as much as I used to. I lost my newborn grandson in September and it took a toll on me and my daughter. We made it through the Holidays and this is a bright new year so I'm ready to get back into life again.
