We have our first meeting of more than two Middle TN members coming up! If you are in the Middle TN area, feel free to join us. Please RSVP to myself so we know to look out for you!

I will be there, and will have my purple Dell laptop set up (something easy to spot).

As we continue to meet over time, I will post any updates/notes from our meetings for the other Middle TN members that are out of the area, but in the state and want to keep tabs on what is going on with us!

This is open to new and experienced investors ---just thought we would get our online DG group together here in Nashville!

If you are seeing this post too late and would like to join us --please send me a PM and I'll be sure to include you on our next meeting. We're flexible on the time we meet ----this Friday seemed to work with most people.

Hope to see you soon!

As a group, we decided we would meet weekly and our goals thus far:

-To Stay Accountable to one another
-To Set Goals for ourselves

Mark your calendars for Our Next Meeting

THIS Friday, October 2
11:00am

Davidson County Courthouse
(website for our needs: http://www.nashville.gov/circuit/probate/)

Metro Courthouse
1 Public Square
Nashville, TN 37201

PLEASE RSVP if you are getting this post for the first time on the REI board, so we will know to look for you!

IMPORTANT:
***Bring 5 FSBO property addresses that we will look up at the Courthouse.
***Bring your 2 month real estate goals

SUGGESTIONS TO HELP YOU (if you are interested):

YOUR 5 FSBO PROPERTIES
On your own, go ahead and get as much information on these 5 properties before you come.

Look each up on TotalView to get as much info ahead of time as you can.
http://www.totalviewrealestate.com/

I have an Excel Spreadsheet I can give you (if you will send me a PM) with an example of a few properties and the information I'm documenting from TotalView ahead of time.

There is also an offer formula from one of the coaches on this site that I have worked into the spreadsheet. Here's the blog to that formula on Dean's site: http://www.deangraziosi.com/node/3975

YOUR 2-MONTH REAL ESTATE GOALS
Don't worry about anyone else's goal. If your goal in two months is to lock up one property - awesome. Main thing, is write out your action steps to get there! Write broad goals and then drill down -----set dates within those goals as to what you will need to do for the month, then weekly to get there, and daily to make your "weeks" happen. A few journals on Dean's site may help you.

JOURNAL
If you want to start a journal, this is a great way to track where you are and where you are going and stay accountable. Let me know if you start one, and I'll check it out and support you!

My Journal on Dean's site:

Take care, and if you are seeing this for the first time, please feel free to join us...just be sure to RSVP! We are all here to help each other grow, wherever we are in our real estate journey.

Look forward to meeting you!
Louisa

JEFF ----first off, if you are still on the site, my apologies for not getting back to this particular group page until now. The day after you wrote (above ---on July 30th, 2010), my son was born. So I was a bit pre-occupied! If you are still active and involved in RE, I highly suggest the REI Nashville group. It is a great way to network and to learn.

I discontinued the meetings for this group as we weren't able to get a contingency to come regularly, however, if anyone would like to "own" the group ----feel free to start the gatherings or to post. If you have any issues with posting here (hoping every member of this group can post), please let me know. Happy to relinquish my admin status of the group if more can gather through the leadership of someone who may have more time to dedicate to it than myself at the moment.

I am due with my second child in August and finishing up 4 rehab properties right now ----just signed a contract on another one. My time is super limited for these meetings at the moment w/ juggling RE and family, but I highly encourage others to get them going!! It was super helpful to me to meet with other people starting out when I was starting out. Nice to have a group to be accountable to in your progress!

Amer ----to your comment above

Amer,

I know this was addressed to David ----but I thought I would chime in here. All the comments left above are from 2010, and I noticed you just wrote and wanted to be sure to get back to you!

It is hard when you are surrounded by people with different thoughts about investing, and different thoughts about how to go about it.

My opinion ----follow someone who is super successful. Dean is super successful. His Success Academy is built of coaches who are super successful investors in what they do. Dean is merely a self-built man who followed the American dream, attained it, and now supplies the tools to others to pursue their RE success in dreams. Is it a scam that he charges someone to learn from him and supplies the best tools to do it, and the best coaches to learn from? What is a scam about that? Doesn't any form of higher education cost something considerable with no guarantees of success? Success is what you make of the tools that you are given -----and it takes action to make it happen! Don't despair ---you are on the right track!

If someone questions you and what you are doing ----Ask questions yourself. And ask questions of those who question you:

You think Dean is a scam? Why do you think that?

Answer you might get: Well, he charges a good sum of money for you to learn his business and he sells his book on TV.

My response would be: So, is college a scam?
Them: No
My response: Well, there are colleges that charge a large sum of money to attend in order to get an education with no guarantees that the education will bring them a job, right? Is it wrong for them to charge the money that they do to pay their professors and keep their college operating? Dean has to do the same thing with his Success Academy. Yes, there is profit to what he is doing. Does that make it a scam? I think not! I would pay 10X the amount I paid for the Success Academy because the helping hand I've received from them was worth far more than what I paid for it.

****
You may get my point ----a lot of people think that people on TV selling something are scams. You will have a lot of negative people surround you that talk you out of what you are doing, or want you to have a different approach.

You have to stay focused, be confidant and decide ---THIS is the path I'm going to take because other super successful investors have taken this road!

An agent has been crucial to my success as an investor. Some investors don't work with agents. It's all okay. But if you are going to invest in the Success Academy ----truly invest in it. Put your heart into it. Follow what the coaches tell you to do. Forget the naysayers around you and decide you are going to do this because you know successful people are making $$$ in real estate because they have followed it!

Many people assume that people selling something on TV ---that those people are a "scam". There are those that are that give everyone else a bad name too. All I can say is that Dean is the real deal. His students are all real people and the most successful ones have taken it to the top to levels I have yet to see at our local REI level. This is why I constantly want to know what the "DG family" is doing and how they are doing it. I can ask someone locally who is doing a couple retail flips a year, but I REALLY want to follow and succeed with a team that is doing a HUGE volume so I can know and learn how to be super successful and get better and better as an investor.

Sorry for the long reply here! I just get passionate about this stuff, and want you to know that Dean is genuine, the coaches are fantastic, and just start surrounding yourself with people that believe in you ----or stop associating with those that give you a hard time (or at least stay quiet about your real estate with them) so you can get through this "starting period" and get to a level of success that people don't question anymore! Smiling And if they do, just remember there are "haters" of success everywhere. Don't let those stumbling blocks knock you down, and KEEP GOING!! It's the only way to the top!

God Bless and Cheers to your future success in RE!
Louisa
