First meeting with Real Estate Agent

First meeting with Real Estate Agent

I recently signed up for Realtytrac.com's free trial and contacted one of their Real Estate Agents that deal with my local area. We setup a meeting for this Tuesday.
I informed him that I was only 19 and that I was just looking to start investing in real estate. He didn't seem to have a problem with that. I guess my real problem is that I need to come up with some questions for him before I go into the meeting.
I just finished reading "Be a Real Estate Millionaire" so I know a little bit about the topic, and I am going to start "Profit From Real Estate Today" tonight.
I am looking at starting off with assignments or buying foreclosures in my area.

Any help with some possible questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

real estate agent

I also just got in contact with an agent after finishing Profit from real esate now, I want to start with forclosures and assignments too. Any help with questions I should ask the new agent?

Real Estate Agent

My advice to you would be that you should have read "Profit From Real Estate Right Now" first. In there it gives you specific questions to pose to agent. On page 113 of Profit From Real Estate Right Now, there's a list of questions that you can copy down into your note pad to take to your interview.

Congratulations on joining the DG family! Just keep in mind when meeting with a realtor your interviewing them. Ask their success records, be upfront to what it is your looking for them to do for you. Are they willing to put in low and multiple offers. Have they done assignment offers, etc.? The main thing is to stay in control. I would use this opportnity to ask for referrals of attorneys and mortgage reps and any others. It never hurts to ask. Much success to you.........Lubertha

lkward13,

Welcome to the DG site and congratulations for taking action and wanting to invest in Real estate. Dean's books are packed with great information and as Max stated above there are good questions for your agent that you can discuss in Dean's newest book. After you talk to a few agents and see a few properties you will begin to develop even more questions. So be sure to have a notebook with you at all times. Godd luck with REI. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Interviewing Agent

Thanks to all who contributed pointers. I'm at the same place...need to interview RE agents and your answers were very helpful.
My concern however, is this...what if realtor "takes" the lead from you? Do you "have" to have a Realtor? If so, why? One would save commission cost and besides, we're the ones doing the work. (for assigns) Do tell...

I finally found my realtor

I finally found my realtor that I am going to work with today. He is willing to let me try anything I want and isn't afraid to make low offers. Donna you don't necessarily need an REA but they can definitely help with a lot of things. They may have connections that you don't have and they can provide you with a lot of comps and other small tasks. You can do it all without one but they can help.

"they can provide you with a lot of comps and other small tasks"...what do you mean by this statement?
I have a meeting with a seller tonight to "lock in". This deal stands to profit at least 25K-35k (depending on my assignment fee) I need an investor!!! Need to close ASAP, before foreclosure. Does anyone know an investor that would be interested? I'm still looking, just started. Pls. advise.

Thanks...Donna

To find a buyer you can

To find a buyer you can visit local real estate clubs or look on craigslist to see who s buying investment property in your area. Call every we buy houses sign you see and ask them what they like. If the deal is good enough it should be easy to find a buyer.

Donna

Put up some chea cardboard signs around the busiest intersections and write. "HOUSE FOR SALE : $_____ ", put your asking price in the blank. The point is to keep it simple and make sure they can read it. You will get a few investors calling .

Put it on Craigslist also or your newspaper if you have the money for it. I would call all the "we buy houses" in the paper like Ikward13 said. Good luck!

First meeting

I am meeting with my first Realtor this morning. I went to the EDGE event which has really inspired me. It was great to meet so many like-minded people. Waiting on a meeting with the local Phoenix attendees. Hope all have a great weekend.
