real estate agent(confused me alot and not sure what to do exactly)

I recently met with an attorney(cause it think it will be easier and save me a lot of time. and then a real estate agent right after that...Anyways, in talking with the agent, she didn't know what I was talking bout when I mentioned assignment clauses...So that was my first uh-oh...then she was saying she wants to take this slow and learn what she can bout it first...I understand if you wanna take it slow and learn, but I wanna get going and don't want to have to hold up for her...(plus I don't know exactly what I am doing either, but that's what this website, deans book, and the attorney is there for...Then she said she wants to meet with my attorney so he can explain what I am wanting to do...so thats another uh-oh...Then I asked her bout what If I want to contact a FSBO home(like if they had a sign in the front yard or whatever), and she said I can't do that, cause if she is in this, she is in all the way...And that would be against her...So if I did do that, she would get commission from me...So I was kinda like, that's a lil weird...Then I asked bout contacting the owner of homes that she may give me a list too, and she said that's against the law...and I can't do that cause I don't have a license...And on top of all that, she said she would be working for me, so she would get commission off of what I make(plus the seller also-right?-)...Now if she already has the "sellers" on the list, isn't she supposed to work for them, and the seller would pay her commission if it sells...I was confused and left kinda down a little bit(but talking with my partner, and going online here, I was lifted back up and figured the best way to get answers(cause maybe she is completely right) is to post on here. With reading through all the post, and Dean's book, I am def questioning her, and don't know if she is the right one to work with...

Time to move on

Marc
Just tell her Psssssstttt...and move on to a realtor who knows about investing. Laughing out loud She is clueless. You are waisting your time with her because she is "old school" and will be wasting your valuable time. In this business you have to move fast to lock these deals up because before the day is over another investor may have it locked up.

Kick her to the curb

There is so many more investor friendly realtors out there. I went through 3 just to find the one that had actually invested himself. Check our your local Remax Brokers because they are world wide and they've been around a long time. As for the lady you're working with, tell her politely, "sorry but you're not quite what I am looking for in a realtor, good luck with everything, bye" that is what I would say. I would also email her so you don't have to listen to her try and talk you out of your decision. There are plenty more out there. Don't let her slow you up. Good luck

Kai

advice taken

Thank you for your feedback sistreat and Kai, I will def do what you said, and move on...That was what I have been thinking myself, but nice to hear others point of views. Should my first question to the real estate agent before anything else be something along the lines of if they have ever invested in real estate themselves? I def wanna get this going as fast as possible, but be smart about things too...Thanks again you guys...Def been a BIG help.

Marc...my father and I work

Marc...my father and I work together in real estate. Your first question should definitely be "have you ever invested before?" or "have you ever worked with someone who has invested before?" You don't need your agent learning as you go. I find that since there are so many realtors out there, if you are not comfortable with one...move on. Investing is a huge deal and if that certain comfort/trust level is not there, it won't be a good situation down the line. We have investors who live in France who trust us to manage their properties. Thats the type of relationship you should have with a realtor. Right now we are building a home in New Jersey and the investors we are working have complete trust in what we do. Keep trying until you find that business savy but trusting realtor...there are some of us still out there Smiling

thanks garycel

Thanks...I agree totally...I already emailed the agent and said I am sorry, but business wise this isn't going to work...nice to meet you and good luck...Basically thats what I said...Anyways, I will def contact another real estate agent(or however many i need to) and find out if they ever have worked with an investor or if they ever have themselves...Thanks a lot though...TRUST is important with everything and everyone, so thanks...Marc
