I wrote this on facebook and wanted the DG family to benefit from it. After the Edge I jumped out of an airplane with Rina. That's ANOTHER great way to clear out any of your hidden fears.

So, you think you have no fears? Try doing some gymnastics LOL ... Wait, before you think this post isn't for you, please read on...
The mind is a funny mechanism. As I watch the children perform these fabulous gymnastic feats; their body's in perfect control. It looks so easy to do, so much so that it looks like the body is supposed to be able to do all these crazy twists, turns, flips and tricks.
I remember being a kid myself and there was no fear, I just would naturally flip around bars and do multiple walkovers and handsprings on the grass without giving it much thought. But now, I hesitate. I think over and ponder 'what if I do it wrong and hurt myself'. I know I can do this stuff, but there is that NASTY fear standing there in my way stopping me; keeping me overly cautious. Taking it nice and slow and doing the movements too slow to possibly do them right. Being afraid to do a cartwheel on a balance beam despite being able to do it straight on the floor, just because it's a few INCHES above the ground. The mind harbors learned fears and cautions to protect us and our safety. But mostly, taking away confidence in our own abilities.
In much the same way, this very same mind presents fear to us in areas we don't even realize, holding us back from our dreams and goals, and allowing us to form barriers to our success. It's naturally inherently built into us. As we transform from childhood into adults, so many learned things fill our mind with blocks. I truly believe this is why it is so difficult to achieve our goals. We've learned a lot of our fears and hold ourselves back without even realizing we have these restrictions in place. This is why we MUST fail and get back up. Each time we conquer a fear, our mind will tell us, well you CAN do that; the first time is always the hardest.
So I flipped around the bar tonight. First time there was so much fear there. So much self doubt and lack of confidence. Something I used to do repeatedly a dozen times in a row as a child. But you know what? I did it. That first time was NOT PRETTY. But, just like when I was a child, I came around the bar just fine. Now I just need to perfect it by doing it over and over several hundred times until it's second nature to me.
JUST LIKE WE HAVE TO DO FOR ANYTHING WE LEARN. If you think you're going to just start real estate (or any venture you pursue) and become an expert at it overnight, think again! You're going to go through the same learning curve and need to build confidence. You won't be an expert at 6 months. To become proficient at something to the point of being an expert, you need to spend 10,000 hours at it! So when people quit after 4-6 months, it baffles me! You have come so far and learned so much at that point. Always compare yourself against where you've come from, not against other people or the ideal. Conquer your fears and NEVER, ever, EVER give up!! The best is yet to come!!!!
..BTW, if you spend 40 hours a week in your pursuit, at 4 months you've only put in 640 hours. At 6 months you've put in 1,040 hours. So at 4-6 months, your just starting to get past the learning and application. You've got a long way to go. (Half that for 20 hrs/ week)!! It isn't until 4 3/4 YEARS you reach 10,000 hours!!! How's that for perspective? Be realistic and YOU WILL ACHIEVE your goals and dreams!!!
It is CERTAIN I will CONTINUE to SUCCEED!!

And become the best you can be!
Thanks for your post Tammy. Fear is definitely what held me back but I hung in there and FINALLY got my first deal done last October. But it took me years to get to that point. So, you are right, people shouldn't quit after a few months. You have to hang in there and keep learning until you reach your goal. Then you continue to learn.
