I just joined the Academy!

I just joined the Academy!

I just got of the phone with them and I signed up so of course I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am confused because it only cost me $2000 when I have heard it was around $5000.

This week I have gotten little sleep because it was only a week ago that I got his new book and only book I read so far about real estate. I am very new to investing but I hope it works out because I don't even have a high school diploma. I know its sad but I also know that college doesnt necessarily make you smart. Back to the topic at hand ..I am almost done with the book and it sounds like alot of work but rewarding at the same time.

My only fear is that I may not be built for this based on my personality. I have to admit that I have a low self confidence and part of it maybe looks. Im not hideous but I don't consider myself good looking. I am also not a great speaker and I know you have to this 'salesman' mentality in this business. I get a bit nervous around professionals and it has to do with lack of education and looks. I don't consider myself a "people person" because I lack a social life. I know some of this is superficial but it's the truth.

Having said all that; I am a very determined person who works hard at what ever I put my mind to. I have no problem putting the time and effort into this because I know the wonders that it can do for me and my family. My biggest fear is not being able to do this and fealing like a failure , not only with this but in life.

To end on a more positive note; I will say that I didn't intend for my intro to be depressing only express my feelings. I look forward to meeting you guys and maybe this can boost my social life a bit. Thanks and I like to hear some thoughts from you guys.

Hi Martin.

Welcome to the DG family! Smiling You have definitely found a place where people really do want to see (and help) each other succeed, and are here to lift you up when you're struggling.
Let me be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS on joining the Academy! You've got everything you need at your fingertips now. Have faith in yourself and in the tools Dean provides. You CAN do this! With each step you take you'll feel more confident. And you don't have to start out as a people-person. I think over time you'll feel more comfortable in that area automatically, but by building a great team (starting with a great realtor, in my opinion), you'll already have outgoing people-persons in your corner.

Good luck and God bless,

Rina

What else could you want

Martin, with the DG family to support you, there is no need to worry about people-person. Congratulations for joining the Academy, and being a part of our family. You are one step ahead of me, by being in the Academy. If anyone should be worried, it should be me and I am not. Another thing, looks does not make a person, just having a clean hand and a pure heart. Your focus now is your family, visiting this site and expanding your knowledge of Real Estate. Go for your dreams. Good luck and God Bless.

Sandra

Congrats!

Hey, Martin~
Well done for signing up to the Academy! I'm still re-working my budget to be able to afford it, so I'm DEAD jealous of anyone that can do it.
Like you, I've had a really sleepless week since I received Dean's latest book! I can't get it out of my HEAD! I find myself carrying it around EVERYWHERE, marked up and covered in diff colored sticky notes. I've even taken to notating in a 5 subject, spiral binder all my thoughts, notes and advice from Dean's book!
I think, though, each one of us has that little voice inside saying we're not good enough in (fill-in-the-blank) to be successful. For you, it may be your perception of how you look or education. Here's something to think about...Have you ever seen someone you thought was GORGEOUS or REALLY WELL EDUCATED the first time you saw them and then, after speaking with them a bit, looked again and discovered they were not "all that"? That instead of being a "10", they were about a "5" or lower? Personality can add, or detract, so much from what others see us as--so much so, by the end of a conversation with someone, we walk away with a completely different "view" of what they looked like to us at first glance.
One of the reasons I'm so intrigued and excited about becoming a Real Estate Investor is because I have the opportunity to not only help myself, but others as well. Phoenix is rated as 4th in the nation for foreclosures. The number of people dealing daily with loss--their job or business, their marriage (divorces are up over 30% in my state) and the loss of self-esteem that seems to be preventing them from any form of action--is staggering. It has been my experience that, by concentrating on helping other people, I help myself ten-fold in whatever it was I was helping them to accomplish. (See the 1st full paragraph of page 255 in the Right Now! book.) I want to create the win-win.
Here's hoping my words give you courage...and wishing us all great success!
~Judy

Congrats Martin

Congratulations on joining the DG family and the Academy.I think I agree with o2bnaz with the being jealous about joining the academy. Lol...Glad that you were able to do that. As you can see everyone on this site is a blessing to have. You have come to the right site for support. Martin you will realize that your heart and real intentions out shine all the negative feelings you have about yourself. The more you accomplish the more confidence you gain. We all have those same feelings but we all stick together and motivate each other. So as long as you keep coming to this site you will achieve. Your determination to succeed, let that and your heart and true intentions lead u. I believe you are a smart person because look at the step you are choosing to take.So just stay focused, don't quit, keep learning. Because you don't have school credentials on paper doesn't make you stupid nor does it stop you from learning. So definitely dont let that be something to stop you. We are all still capable of learning anything we want. Right now you choose to do real estate. So read, listen ask questions, and follow instuctions from the academy and take action. You will be good to go. I soon will be joining the academy. I have no doubts about it. I am a very skepitcal person. You made a good decision....I believe

im going to cry , jk

wow reading all your responses made me feel great thanks guys . I will try to respond to each of you individually but first I will say a few things here.

I am sorry that some of you are unable to join the Academy. I hope that you are able to achieve that very soon so that we can guide each other through this uncharted journey. I really had to think about joining because like most of you , I don't dive into anything with out doing research. However; I realized that this was the best option for a career for myself so now I am here.

What makes this a bit difficult is that it seems like my family doesn't believe in me. My wife got home yesterday and I told here what I had done and she flipped. She claims it was because I didn't consult with her but I told her she would 've shut me down , period! My wife is a great person but she is just pesimistic (spelling?) sometimes. I want her to join me in doing this because she is better with people and she does have a bachelor's degree. She doesn't seem interested as of right now but maybe she will change her mind.

I look forward to being in these forums so we can help each other . Unfortunately; I work alot doing the week so I may only be here in the weekends. Either way; it has been a pleasure so far. Now to respond to yall individually.

Hey Martin

I know you love your wife. But don't let her feelings keep you from doing what you need to do. It's hard but, its gotta be done. So if you must seperate your real estate business from her for now to avoid the negative energy, then do so. Its the best thing right now if it calls for it. Look at it this way, when you succeed she will be a beliver and want to participate in your endeavors and will feel bad she didn't totally believe in you. Not that you want her to feel bad, just want to be involved. So the more action you take and the more you accompish will speak for it self.So do what you must to get your wife on board with you but avoid the egative energy at all cost. You don't need that right now. Just show and prove. Thats all...
