Pooh & Friends' Advice for Investors...

Pooh & Friends' Advice for Investors...

The following quotes are from "Pooh's Little Instruction Book," which I came across cleaning out my son's toys and stuff. I thought it'd be a nice new post to help relax and inspire anyone who might be bored or scared... Enjoy, everyone! Smiling

"To the uneducated, an A is just three sticks." - Rabbit.

"Being fine today doesn't Mean Anything. It may hail a good deal tomorrow -- blizzards and whatnot." - Eeyore.

"We can't all, and some of us don't. That's all there is to it." - Eeyore.

"People who don't Think probably don't have Brains; rather, they have grey fluff that's blown into their heads by mistake." - Pooh.

"Brains first and then Hard Work." - Eeyore.

"When you are pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen, brush the honey off your nose and spruce yourself up as fast as you can, so as to look Ready for Anything." - Pooh.

"If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear." - Pooh.

"It's hard to be brave, when you're only a Very Small Animal." - Piglet.

"You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." - Rabbit.

"When your house looks like a tree that has blown down, it is time to get a new house." - Owl.

"Sometimes, when people have quite finished taking a person's house, there are one or two bits which they don't want and are rather glad for the person to take back." - Eeyore.

"In case of Sudden and Temporary Immersion, the Important Thing is to keep the Head Above Water." - Christopher Robin.

"Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering." - Christopher Robin.

"Even though eating honey is a very good thing to do, there is a moment just before you begin to eat it which is better." - Pooh.

"Always be aware of how many pots of honey you have left in the cupboard; it's nice to be able to say, 'I've got fourteen pots of honey left.' Or fifteen, as the case may be." - Pooh.

Duke Leto: "I'll miss the sea, but a person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken." - "Dune."

Timing is Everything

Since the beginning of our childhood we are told "Hurry Up!" or "We're Going To Be Late!" or any other number of sayings. Growing up we hear "What Took You So Long?" or "Where Were You?" and as we matured into adulthood we hear "Be Fifteen Minutes Early", "I Can't Be Late", or "Plan Ahead Next Time!" The sayings may be slightly different from time to time or event but they are almost always indicative of time. We have been bred to pay attention to the time available and how much we waste each day. We are trying to stay ahead of that learning curve and schedule everything so we may take advantage of our available time. Yet we fail and do nothing or we procrastinate over and over without a thought about our internal thinking process. This is why it's so important to keep great sayings that promote motivation where you can read them daily. This is also why it's so important to keep daily records that keep us appraised of our time and mentally plant new processes to pick up and act upon to break bad habits. Maybe we should not only create a new forum topic for motivation but also time management techniques. "Blue Eyed Daddy" I enjoyed your post and you keep up the great motivation for everyone to read. Thanks.

Thank you...

I thought this would make a nice break. Lately the only types of forums I've seen have been: 1) new journals from people who just joined the site, 2) veteran journals which are so lengthy they should probably start a new one, 3) questions from people who haven't read Dean's books yet, or 4) RE news articles trying to tell us how or why we should stay away from REI. I thought we could all use a little inspiration and entertainment, especially since we're in the holiday season. Take care, everyone... Smiling

Hmm...

You know, reading through the "Pooh & Friends" quotes, I guess I never realized that Pooh is actually the wisest of them all. Most insightful thoughts..
I especially liked these:

"Even though eating honey is a very good thing to do, there is a moment just before you begin to eat it which is better." - Pooh.

"When you are pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen, brush the honey off your nose and spruce yourself up as fast as you can, so as to look Ready for Anything." - Pooh.

I'll have to implement that second one! (Never thought I'd be taking advice from Pooh Bear. lol)

Thanks Blue Eyed Daddy! Smiling

I know!

Rina, I thought this post was kind of silly as I was typing it out. Almost too silly to put on this site. But, the further I went through the book, the more stuff I found that fit what I was looking for... Until the end, and then it all made perfect sense. I'm glad you guys liked it. Smiling

Thank you Blue Eyed Daddy!

I really enjoyed your post!
Very inspirational Smiling

Actually I am learning a lot from my 3-year-old son too... If there is a closed door, he just open it.
If there is a food he never tasted before, he just put it in his mouth, if there is water puddle on the street, he just steps in, I mean he JUST DO IT! (without thinking most of the times...).
On the other hand, I procrastinate over and over... It's time to break my bad habits and JUST DO IT!!!

Thank you, Blue Eyed Daddy Smiling

P.S. I wasn't like this before... I mean I just packed out my stuff & flew to this country all by myself (I am originally from Japan), without speaking English... I wasn't scared about ANYTHING! I don't know what happened to me Sad

Coco...

I know what you mean! My son just learned last week how to open and shut doors. Now I have to watch him closer than ever! LOL I wish I just went forward like he did without all the grown-up fear and reservations we all carry around. I could never imagine flying to Japan not knowing the language -- very brave. If you can't stop being scared, that's fine, just don't let being scared stop you! One of the other people (I don't remember who right now) on this site has a saying I really like, "Sometimes you have to do it scared!" That's what I'm going to do -- take care. Smiling
