The Beginning

The Beginning

I ordered the "Profits In Your Town" book two days ago and I am in Chapter three, but what has grabbed me right off the bat was the 7 levels deep exercise in Chapter Two. I watched the video of Dean and his guest and I thought,"hmm, interesting". I read his experience doing the exercise and was intrigued at his comment of it being an emotional experience for him. I wanted to blow it off and get to the meat and potatoes of the book, but something nagged me in my mind. What if this guy really can help me? I have purchased another of Dean's books and it had good information, but to be honest I fell off before completing it because I couldn't see how it would help.
So this time, listening to that voice asking me the question, I decided to do everything Dean suggests to the letter. Like a lot of folks, I've bought courses, been to seminars and taken on a "mentor" but no results. I'm giving full effort this time and remove all of the disappointments and failures from my mind. After the emotion that poured out of me doing the exercise, I think I am on the right track. Finding my true WHY makes sense for me continuing to attempt this thing called real estate investing.
So here goes! I will be reading others' input and doing everything in my power to achieve what has been impossible for me to achieve to this point. Wish me luck!!!

Getting Back Up

Hello DG Family!

It has been a while since my last entry. After getting my hip replacement, I thought I would have the entire summer to focus just on RE Investing. Man was I wrong!! Joint replacement surgery is kinda serious and takes time to heal (so I've found out). But the passion never died. I continued to eat, sleep and breathe real estate. I just finished putting out my first bandit signs last night and intend to place more as I find good spots for them.

Even now, I find myself in pain just walking the few feet to place the signs, but it can only get better from here. I'm also looking at my first possible deal and have buyers calling and e mailing me. It feels good to get the juices flowing again and to read about the good fortune of my family members. I hope you root for me the way I root for you.

I'll be back with good news...real soon! Smiling

way to get back in

Awesome Ogal that you are not giving up. Keep going and keep trying no matter what. If you can still do it with your hip replacement then anything is possible right Smiling I look forward to seeing your good news.

Good for you!

Ogal,

It is so great to see you here!

I am in a similar situation. I had started out reading, reading and studying every spare hour. Absolutely obsessed! I had a knee replacement Sept 17 and had planned with all that time off work to really get something going! The first few weeks with all the pain meds I was pretty out of it. Even now, though I have been off of them (meds) for a couple of weeks, my attention span is not quite back to normal. Just starting to get there.

I have been able to get time off until Feb 1, so am hoping to get busy. You are inspiring to me! Keep up the good work!

To Makeba & Karen

Ladies, thank you both for the encouragement AND the inspiration! One thing I have always loved about this DG site is the support and compassion of its members. Let us continue to strive for the excellence that we are capable of. I look forward to reading both of your success stories in the future. Keep at it!!!

Your DG Family

Ogaines,
Welcome to your newfound family! We are here to help. I am fairly new, almost 1 year into the program and a student of the Success Academy. It is indeed a lot of information to grasp but well worth your time and the effort.

Stay encouraged,

Peace and Blessings,
Sheila

I appreciate the encouragement. I spoke to someone at the Success Academy and it's out of my reach for the moment. I do see myself enrolling at some point, though. I wish you much success and perhaps I'll see you at the edge!!

Ogal

What a wonderful journal you have going here. It really is inspiring and you have come so far with so many obstacles. I am rooting for you even though I am new and don't know squat yet. I hope you heal quickly and can soon return to your quest.

I know you will have that first deal soon!

The Journey Continues...

It has been some time since I've posted, but I have not been idle. For the past 60 days, my focus has been on marketing, marketing, marketing. I am plastering my neighborhoods of choice with bandit signs. I am even comfortable calling sellers now. Still, haven't found the elusive first deal. But, surprisingly, I am not discouraged. I am sifting and hunting and networking and meeting some very interesting and helpful folks (just like here). But at night when I lay down I have moments of wondering what do I think I'm doing and want to give up. And then I am reminded of a Les Brown story.

After a day of doing his business, Les would come home and find his son waiting for him with the chess board. This kid was kinda young and not very skilled in the game of chess. They would play until the child's mother would come to the doorway and say "Time for bed!". On this particular night, when mom mentioned bedtime, the little boy refused. Les jumped in and said, "C'mon son we can can always play tomorrow.". The little boy wouldn't budge. He set up the board and defiantly shouted, "It ain't over til I win!!" That's where I'm at today. I won't stop til I win. Have a profitable day everyone!!

30 Days to Quick Real Estate Cash

I cannot believe it has been a year since I submitted a post! I have been active, but in all honesty, not consistent. My involvement was intermittent at best and my business suffered because of that. But I never quite gave up...just became disheartened. I have been checking this site from time to time to see how others were doing but I remained silent because I was embarrassed! With others moving along in success and profit and lil ol' me on the sidelines--broke!

Dean mentioned a new book in one of his weekly wisdom videos and I thought "what the heck". I bought it like I buy all of my RE material: with the hope that this may hold the key to my success. I noticed a difference right away! This book is set up differently. Dean gives step-by-step instructions in bite sized bits that are easier to handle. I'm just on the first 5 days and I know my "why" (honestly I did that last year) I've spoken with more realtors in a knowledgeable fashion than ever and I have selected an agent who is like-minded because I used Matt's script. That's in 3 days! I don't know the next 5-day assignment because I want to stay focused on my current assignment. But I like it and this format helped me realize that-for me- trying to do everything at once was overwhelming and I would lose focus, get stuck and then stop. Perhaps this way I can actually make my dreams come true. We'll see...wish me luck! Smiling

Bandit Signs

I've gone back to a strategy that had been working for me. I'm using bandit signs again! They stopped working (I learned) because I stopped working. Someone just advised me to be consistent with my marketing. I now have a monthly marketing budget. Of course, I read this in Dean's books but didn't think I needed to until I made some money! How wrong I was!!

So, back to square run, but not discouraged. If anything, I am enlightened and eager. I BELIEVE!!!

Fall Down...Get Back Up

Hi Journal. Has it really been almost a year since I last wrote? Wow! I guess between the negativity of my job and the negativity in my head I have been in avoidance mode. I am not writing for others tonight, I am writing for me.I cannot just quit.I must do more for myself and my family!Bottom line! One week ago Friday, I signed up with the Real Estate Academy and began doing my lessons. I was so terrified I was shaking as I got signed up! all the things that have gone wrong in my life had formed this gigantic "what if" in my head and had me projecting worse-case scenarios before I had gotten through the enrollment process. I know that thinking has kept me from succeeding; heck, from even really trying. But I'm sick of the job, commute and sometimes, even the patients. It's time! Dean says take action. I didn't because action is uncomfortable.I need to be uncomfortable right now because it really can't be worse than the boat I'm in right now! So, I'm back!! Now let's change my life!! Thanks Dean...once again!
