I'm new. Any advice on focus and drive?

I'm new. Any advice on focus and drive?

Hello! I am new to the forum. I ordered the book "Profit from Real Estate Right Now" about 3 weeks ago, and I still have not really gotten started. It's motivating to read your comments.

It has been hard for me to focus on real estate, due to family circumstances, my great need to generate an income NOW (as in YESTERDAY), school, career development, and a part-time business. Everything seems to be in the way of each other, though I emphasize that I am very grateful to God for all of these blessings.

It may not seem like it, but my desire to generate a substantial income through real estate is very high. It's been on my mind for a good number of years, and I believe this is the time. Moreover, it is essential that my family acquire its own home in southern California, ASAP.

To be honest, at the moment, I'm generating $0 in income, so I'm very dependent on my family. (It doesn't come easy to say.) This is unacceptable, so I am constantly dealing with my own frustration, not to mention family stress.

My part-time business is in MLM sales. It's a great co. with great product, but it's really difficult for me to get past fear, and get out there and offer the product. (Most of my experience IS in sales, and one of my greatest strengths is in Customer Service, but I don't think that sales is really in my nature, so I still go to school, and try to develop my career in what I studied for and enjoy, which is Interpretation/Translation.) However, if done right, the MLM sales would take care of my IMMEDIATE income needs, thus allowing me to focus much more on real estate.

As you can see, and not even mentioning my family circumstances, my mind is very cluttered at the moment. I'm glad I followed the links and got here today. I'm sure that with the community support that these forums provide, I will be able to focus on real estate much more and develop that drive that I currently need.

Any heartfelt advice?

Thank you for you attention and support!

Belinda

P.S. I thank you, Lord, for everything in my life, including what would appear to be "not so good", for I know that there are many blessings in disguise that are currently shaping my character and preparing me for what may come.

Focus-Focus-Focus

We all have circumstances, family related or others that are part of our everyday lives. Motivation, is the key factor in making a success out of anything that is attempted in life. Without motivation and a strong desire to achieve your goals, you are doing nothing more than wasting time and putting things off to yet another day.
Real Estate Investing requires dedication, motivation hard work, ong hours at times, and a strong desire to achieve results. Without these basic guidelines, you certainely will have many problems that lie ahead. It is up to you and only you. You must decide for yourself what you want to accomplish and what you are willing to sacrifice to accomplish your goals. No one will take you by the hand and lead you to your goals. You can remain complacent and continue to put off or make excuses for not proceeding as long as you want and in reality it is very easy to do so without even knowing.
You have taken the first step towards a goal or objective by ordering Dean's material. Are you then willing to take the next step?

Serenity

Years ago I let individuals that I thought cared about me discourage me from getting ahead in life. But, guess what? The same individuals that were trying to stress me were doing whatever was necessary to make them happy no matter what it was. As time went by I noticed every time I wanted to go back to college or do anything to better my life, haters would come out of the wood work. Even though I'm actually a self-starter it's nice to get some encouragement every once in awhile. Even if you're moving kind of slow right now, try not to quit. I'm also just beginning in this real estate adventure and to be honest with you, I have the slightest idea what I'm doing but I'm afraid to quit. I'm tired of not trying to do what I've been wanting to do for years and was just too chicken to apply myself. Everyone's motive for getting into real estate are not the same but even though I don't even know you I'm sure you have the potential to succeed in whatever you want to do.

Focusing and Willing

I AM willing to take the next step. I just got done listening to the live conference call, and am currently listening to the December 22nd call with Jeff Jensen. I certainly feel more focused, and with a better idea of where to start. "timmer 2105" and "jbtoggs", I sincerely appreciate your grounding comments.

"Tweet", thank you for opening your heart. Though I don't expect to be hand-held, as you said, it's nice to get encouragement. I really appreciate the confidence you have in me and the extra support through the private messages. I also believe you have the potential to succeed in whatever you set your mind to.

Thank you ALL for your support! God bless.

Belinda

Making Progress

I just wanted to share that today is a great day. I feel empowered, not just in real estate, but in my life. I've decided to take it one step at a time and to move at my own pace, doing my best to not lose momentum. I CAN DO IT! And with your support, I can do even more. Thank you!

Focus and drive

Hey Belinda welcome to the DG family!

You are in a great place full of knowledge, support, and so much information it will blow your mind if you let it. If you feel out of focus and not sure which way to go start writing a list of goals. You can and should set goals for the next week, month, year and maybe several years etc. But the most important goal you should really focus on is each day.

You stated above "my mind is very cluttered at the moment".

My parents were told when I was a child I had ADD. I saw a Doctor as an adult (I was going to take some college courses at the time and I wanted to see if it would help me focus.)he was not exactly sure which I have ADD or ADHD but he thought it was closer to ADHD. He told me to try some med's for adults for this issue. I tried them, didn't notice a difference and dropped the med's. I'm not a fan of any medication if I can help it. (Yeah and I know there are a few of you thinking WOW man does he have any extra!) Sorry kids they went down the toilet. But look at this way there are some happy fish out there! Shocked ADHD has affected me in a few ways I also suffer from a cluttered mind. One issue is I have so many thoughts, ideas and just day dreaming going on in my head at one time that it some times might make me venture off in another direction. I have so much fun I never get bored. Shocked LOL

Ah OH what was I talking about! Smiling

The reason I mention this is I needed to find a way to get focused and someone suggested quite a few years ago that I should start writing a daily goal if I needed to accomplish something important. Well I didn't follow that advice. Not until the last few months. I have started making daily goals and I can tell you I have achieved so much more.

So make your focus on each day that you plan to work, set your goals for that day and break it down as you go.

Its kind of like the joke, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

As far as drive goes I think you already have it. You pushed yourself to purchase Deans books, you came to the forums and you posted your journal. From what I see if you keep up the pace you may need to focus on where they keep the emergency break. You may need it to help slow you down a bit, or you might run right by the rest of us. Shocked

Which I hope you do!

On the cluttered mind thing... I have a messy desk in my office and I try to keep it clean but I always end up getting it cluttered again. However I do know where everything is. My wife asks, how you can know where anything is, and I just tell her.

Julene, if a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind what is and empty desk a sign of?

baby steps

Belinda,

we all feel overwhelmed when we first start-there is an immense amount of information and tools to learn, but the support you get here is extraordinary.
Set small goals for yourself everyday that are achievable; take baby steps, that way you will feel in control and won't lose your enthusiasm.
Good luck on your journey!

Time management and your present situation

Those should be the two things you need to focus on

Bring your book with you to work. Read a chapter every 2-3 days, soak it in, and move onto the next chapter. If you can find time at night or in the morning before work. You just have to find the time.

As far as drive goes, there's no speech or compliments or good praises that can provide that; you have to just have it.

Even after this, do not expect a miracle or some quick fix to your financial woes. Takes times. if you find success faster, thats a treat.

Best to you

Belinda, If you don't

Belinda,

If you don't succeed, the world will come to an end. Smiling Just kidding. That was the most extreme motivator I could think of at the moment. In all honesty, one of the best things that works for me is Nike. Every person is different, but for me, "Just do it" works. Keep pressing and "Just do it!"

here is my piece...

This is apart of what I had wrote a short while ago but I believe this will help, if even just a little bit,

Knowledge plus(+) Action = Results. If you fail, you need to know one important thing, its okay. It is okay to mess up. Its important to take that experience, learn from it and try again. Protect your mindset, pick yourself up, and keep pushing to accomplish your goals. Failure, its basically the result of an action that you had taken and it produced a result that wasnt in your favor. But its still a result. Most people dont get results because they never take ACTION!
